An incredible waterspout filmed on the Isle of Wight

A huge waterspout caused by a freak weather effect has been spotted near the Isle of Wight.
Torrential rains over the UK bank holiday weekend created this rare phenomenon.
The Met Office said the marine plume appeared on Saturday after a period of heavy rain.
Waterspouts are similar to tornadoes but differ slightly in that they can only be seen over a body of water.
The slightly terrifying spiral of water forms when rotating funnels of air and water mist twist together in high winds.

According to witnesses, the waterspout did not reach the mainland, which therefore does not qualify it as a tornado.
Another yellow weather warning was issued on Sunday morning as Britons braced for a wet and miserable bank holiday weekend.
In July, it was also revealed that Britain had experienced its sixth wettest July in its history, after the country was hit by downpours.
A succession of low pressure systems brought long stretches of wet and windy weather across much of the country, sometimes making it feel more like autumn than summer – a stark contrast to July 2022, which saw waves heat and temperatures up to 40°C.
The UK received an average of 140.1mm of rain last month, the sixth highest total for July since records began in 1836, according to provisional data.
According to witnesses, the waterspout did not reach the mainland, which therefore does not qualify it as a tornado.
