The latest Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone impresses everyone and could hurt the iPhone

A few days ago, Xiaomi revealed its latest phone in China. Presented alongside other new products, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra was by far the star of the Beijing conference. Although its features are not revolutionary, it is nonetheless incredible.

For this latest creation, the Chinese brand has decided to think big, particularly in terms of photography. Xiaomi continues its journey with the famous expert German brand Leica. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the first phone made with Leica, offered three photo sensors. Now the 13 Ultra has three 50-megapixel sensors and an ultra-wide-angle sensor. This improvement in the photo module allows, in particular, to improve the image quality, to shoot in ultra-RAW but also a variable aperture between f/1.9 and f/4 (which is enormous for a phone).

Unparalleled brightness

From the outside, the phone hasn’t changed that much. We find, given its capacity, a fairly imposing Leica camera which rests, this time, on a tanned surface reminiscent of leather. On the other side, the screen is quite large, 6.73 inches WQHD+, like its predecessor. What changes in particular, and what Apple could take inspiration from, is the brightness. The latter has been reworked to offer its user a more qualitative experience. According to the manufacturer, it would have 1300 nits (unit of measurement used to measure the brightness of a device) in classic mode and 2600 nits in HDR mode. A record on the market, for the moment.

Concerning the more technical details, which bring the smartphone to life from the inside, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is made up of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. It has storage with a capacity of 256, 512 GB or 1 TB. And for Finally, its battery has been pushed a little compared to old models, and reached 5000 mAh.
