A while ago, Ubisoft had decided to try the experience of the dedicated proprietary platform, like EA with Origin, thus transferring its PC games to Uplay, which later became Ubisoft Connect. But in the same way as EA, which finally preferred to reconnect with the public of Steam gamers by returning its catalog to the market-leading distributor, the French studio will return to the arms of Valve.
confirming information from SamaGame, Ubisoft announces the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on PC via Steam on December 6th. Other titles are also planned, such as the strategy game Anno 1800 or the sports free to play Roller Champions, on a date not yet indicated. There are no longer any major publishers who can boast of not going through Steam.
On SamaGame, a spokesperson clarifies:
We are constantly evaluating how to deliver our games to different audiences, wherever they are, while providing a cohesive player ecosystem through Ubisoft Connect. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800 and Roller Champions are among the Ubisoft titles that will be released on Steam.
For the latest addition to the AC franchise, for example, it was released directly on Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store, Valve’s direct competitor. The date of December 6 is strategic for the French studio, since the action-adventure game will release its Last Chapter, a free extension that will put an end to the last arcs present in the title. The patch will also add new content including a mode New Game Plus.
