Since the advent of Persona 5 in 2016, Atlus has constantly amazed fans by exploring innovative iterations. With Persona 5 Tactica, the franchise doesn’t just follow the usual pattern; on the contrary, it introduces a new dimension compared to the well-established genres of RPG and Musou experienced in the past. Here, in this Tactical-RPG, the horizons of the video game experience open up to new territory, allowing the license to enhance the lore, while bringing novelty to the gameplay.
Available from November 17, 2023 on various platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the game immerses players in a Metaverse reminiscent of the French Revolution, titled “The Kingdoms.” Before their graduation ceremony, the protagonists find themselves attacked by legionnaires, servants under the spell of Queen Marie. The Chibi aesthetic of the characters brings a unique touch to the experience, without altering the overall appeal of the game. The tactical gameplay, while reminiscent of the game’s roots, offers new subtleties with mechanics such as the Triple Threat attack and the “One More” system.
For this article, we invite you to take a visual dive into the world of Persona 5 Tactica, with our exclusive video test. ====Brief summary of the experience in video====
Strong points :
- Cute as hell (long live Chibi)!
- Technically it’s very clean,
- A plot twist…
- … But also very rich in terms of narration!
- Another sick OST!
- We find our favorite characters,
- Efficient handling and ergonomics,
- You can use Personas during battles!
- The Leblanc café to deepen the lore!
- It’s subtitled in French!
Weak points :
- Very classic combat mechanisms, even too simple at times,
- Loading times present on Switch.
- Overall linear.
- The DLCs…
Note :
– 16/20 for Persona fans
– 14/20 for others
Honest conclusion for Tactical fans, and particularly pleasing for fans of the franchise who aspire to relive, one last time, “intense” adventures alongside the emblematic characters of Persona 5 Royal! This game offers a great opportunity to relax and enjoy a good time thanks to an original artistic direction and an interesting storyline!
