The Persona series has seen plenty of spinoffs to its name, especially with its mainstream popularity stemming from its last mainline entry Persona 5. Now joining the likes of Nintendo 3DS-exclusive dungeon-crawling Persona Q titles, the line dance/rhythm from Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight, Persona 4: Dancing All Night and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight and the musou-style Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 5: The Phantom X was announced this year.

Will Persona 5 Phantom of the Night have microtransactions?

Persona 5: Phantom X (Phantom of the Night) will be exclusive to mobile devices. The title is developed by Black Wings Game Studio and published by Perfect World Game, a Chinese company. While it might raise some eyebrows immediately, the next game had its series editor, Atlus, closely involved in its development, as well as character designer Shigenori Soejima who also helped design the new characters.

The legitimacy of it all is really apparent, especially from the initial artwork and screenshots we currently have which perfectly capture the style and polish of the main titles. But since it’s been heavily speculated to be free to play, we can only expect microtransactions to be a factor for sure. Although we don’t have a definitive answer just yet, March 29 will be the time to confirm our suspicions once its first public tests are released in China.
