Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for Nintendo Switch is coming sooner than expected. The game was originally set to be released in September 2022, but is now coming a few months earlier on July 29, 2022. In this latest game in the long-running RPG series, players will embark on an epic adventure where a story is told with “life” as the the central theme, while connecting the futures of the two previous games in the Xenoblade Chronicles main series.

Nintendo Switch Direct on Wednesday, June 22 is all about Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Players take on the role of the main characters Noah and Mio and find themselves in the middle of a conflict between the nations of Keves and Agnus. Six characters from these two nations join forces to uncover the truth behind this battle, setting their sights on Swordmarch, a land split by a giant sword.

The recently released trailer revealed the background of the journey in Aionios, a vast world full of natural beauty, and reveals new details about the combat system:

  • Fight with up to seven characters: As in previous Xenoblade Chronicles games, combat begins by directly confronting enemies in the field. Players can control Noah’s team, consisting of six characters, plus additional characters they meet during the adventure. Each character has their own role in the fight, which offers various strategic options.
  • Change Classes: Noah is a swordsman, specialized in close combat, and Mio is a Zephyr, someone who draws the enemy’s attention and evades attacks. Each character therefore has its own class with its own powers and skills. Later in the adventure, players can change the classes of characters and thus customize their team to their liking.
  • New Interlink System: Each of the tag team pairings (Noah and Mio, Lanz and Sena, Eunie and Taion) can use the Interlink system if certain conditions are met. They then merge into a giant form called Ouroboros. Each Ouroboros has strong attacks, and choosing the right moment to transform can determine the outcome of a battle.
