Nintendo Switch with OLED and 4K screen arrives later this year.

Nintendo is planning to release an enhanced version of the Switch with a 7-inch Samsung OLED screen later this year. According to a Bloomberg report, the new model would have 720p and 4K resolution when plugged into the dock.

The Japanese company’s intention is to make its hybrid console compete in the market with the recently launched PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. According to information, the “premium” version of the video game would also help extend its useful life.
One of the indicators that point to this fact is that Samsung will start producing the screens from June. “The OLED display will consume less battery power, offering higher contrast and possibly faster response when compared to today’s liquid crystal display,” explained Yoshio Tamura, co-founder of display consultancy DSCC, to Bloomberg.

Device completed 4 years of launch recently
The increase in the display compared to current models would not be as significant, however. While the new panel should have 7 inches, the standard Switch has 6.2 inches and the Lite is equipped with a 5.5 inches.

Despite the good news, the article reminds that the possible 4K resolution of the device may make game developers even more unhappy. They previously complained that there was a considerable difference between the video game image quality in portable mode and in the dock. This gap could be even bigger with high resolution graphics.
hot rumors
At least since last year there has been information about a bigger version of the Nintendo Switch. The Economic Daily News even reported that Big N planned to launch the console as early as the first quarter of this year (which won’t happen).

In early February 2021, in a question and answer session with fans, brand president Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about this. He denied the possibility, reminding that of releases that will take place until March.
Q: new model this year?
A: not planning to make an annoucement anytime soon as we have Mario see in Feb, MH see in Mar.
Hint: Nintendo chief last year said not planning to release new model in 2020. Today’s was just “not anytime soon.” So, that means…?https://t.co/MQkwskXYrn
