Nintendo unpacks in honor of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros..
Mario has come a long way since jumping that first Goomba in World 1-1 of the original Super Mario Bros. Now, 35 years after that game’s release in Japan, he’s the star of a variety of games on the Nintendo Switch, which has put him in the spotlight at brands such as LEGO, Kinder Joy and Monopoly. Plus, a special Super Mario-style Splatfest is coming Splatoon 2.
In a new video presentation airing today, Nintendo revealed several games, products and in-game events that will be appearing as part of Nintendo’s 35th anniversary celebrations. Super Mario Bros. This includes games that are new to the various Nintendo Switch systems, such as Super Mario 3D All Starsa collection of three modern-era Super Mario games comprising Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy; Super Mario Bros. 35a 35-player online battle in the world of the original Super Mario Bros.; and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Furyan improved version of Super Mario 3DWorldwhich was originally released on the Wii U.
In addition, the video showed new Super Mario experiences that will be released this year, such as Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, which brings the fun of the Mario Kart series to the real world by using the Nintendo Switch system to drive a real, physical kart; the classic Super NES game Super Mario All Stars releasing later today for Nintendo Switch Online; and called a new Nintendo product Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros.a small game system based on the classic Game & Watch systems on which Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and Ball can be played.

- Super Mario 3D All Stars: Optimized versions of the 3D Super Mario games are coming Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy to Nintendo Switch in one bundle. In addition to having higher resolutions than the original versions, these games are optimized for a smooth gameplay experience on Nintendo Switch. Super Mario 3D All Stars also includes an in-game music player that lets you listen to the music from all three games, even when the Nintendo Switch console’s screen is off. Super Mario 3D All Stars will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch family systems on September 18. The game card version is only produced in limited quantities and the download version is only available until the end of March 2021. Super Mario 3D All Stars is available for pre-order from Nintendo eShop from today.
- Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit: Made by Nintendo and Velan Studios Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit brings the fun of the Mario Kart series into the real world with a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite** as players race for first place with a physical kart. The kart responds to in-game and real-world boosts, comes to a stop if the player is hit by an object in-game, and can be affected in different ways depending on the race. Players place gates to map out a route in the house in a shape of their choice. Race against Koopalings in grand prix races to unlock track skins and costumes for Mario and Luigi, and play with up to four players in local multiplayer.*** Mario Kart Live: Home Circuitwhich will be available as the Mario set and Luigi set, will be released on October 16.
- Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros.: This new device is based on the original Game & Watch systems that were first released in 1980. The original handheld device contained a game and could also be used as a watch. The original Game & Watch series has sold more than 43 million units worldwide. Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. features a modern directional pad. Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. contains in addition to the classic games Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (released in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2) and a special version of Ball with a Mario twist, a clock with 35 secrets to discover, including some guest appearances from Mario’s friends and foes. Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. will be released on November 13.
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury: Multiplayer on Nintendo Switch: not for the cat! This modern version of Super Mario 3DWorld, originally released for Wii U, features co-op gameplay (both online* and in local multiplayer mode) in a variety of creative levels. More details will be revealed later about new elements this game has to offer. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will be released on February 12, 2021 for Nintendo Switch. On the same day, the amiibo of Kat-Mario and Kat-Peach released as a double pack.
- Super Mario Bros. 35: Welcome to Super Mario Bros. …with 35 players! In this competitive game, 35 players compete against each other online to be the last Mario standing. The enemies you defeat are sent to your opponents, but that also works the other way around! Players can activate special items to try and outrun their opponents. Super Mario Bros. 35 will be released as a download only version on October 1 and will be available exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online members*. The game will be playable through March 31, 2021.
- Super Mario All Stars: The classic Super NES game, which features enhanced versions of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3 with enhanced 16-bit graphics, joins the collection of games available with Nintendo Switch Online later today!*
Super Mario events: From now through March 2021, in honor of the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. organized all sorts of in-game events.

- From September 9 at 8:00 AM to September 23 at 8:00 AM, Mario Kart Tour a Super Mario Kart Tour event, featuring guest appearances from Mario (SNES) and Donkey Kong Jr. (SNES) from the original Super Mario Kart.****
- Historical Super Mario items and special 35th anniversary merchandise will be available in the My Nintendo Store later this year.
- A special ninji speedrun level is coming in November Super Mario Maker 2 in 35th anniversary theme.
- You can enter in November and December Super Smash Bros. Ultimate participate in an in-game online tournament featuring fighters, stages and items from the Super Mario series.
- A Super Mario themed Splatfest is coming to January 2021 Splatoon 2. Keychains will also be available later as My Nintendo rewards.***** In addition, Splatfest T-Shirts will be available in the My Nintendo Store soon. The upcoming Splatfest will focus on the following question: which Super Mario power-up do you prefer: become super-sized with a super mushroom or become invincible with a superstar?
- Next March, Super Mario style furniture will be available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Super Mario Products: In addition to all of the events listed above, there are also a slew of Super Mario themed products available.
- Hasbro’s Monopoly Super Mario Celebration is now available worldwide.
- Kids Joy Super Mario products are available now.
- The LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System set is now available exclusively in LEGO stores. Several LEGO Super Mario sets are now available worldwide, including the ‘Adventures with Mario’ starter set.
