Nintendo will showcase upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles at gamescom 2016.

Once again this year, Nintendo will be present at gamescom – the world’s largest annual video game trade show in Cologne, Germany, with a booth full of current and upcoming titles for Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Nintendo kicks off the multi-day show of engaging games and fun events with a Splatoon Showdown Tournament, a new lineup of Nintendo Selects titles for Wii U and colorful additions to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems:

  • Splatoon Showdown: After the battle of the past few weeks, only four teams remain in ESL’s Splatoon Showdown tournament. The ESL, the world’s largest eSports company, will host the finals at gamescom in partnership with Nintendo on the ESL arena’s Beta stage in Hall 9. The finals will take place on August 17 at 3:00 PM CEST and will be announced by Splatoon producer Hisashi Nogami. All footage from the final will be streamed live via
  • Splatoon Testfire: Players who haven’t played Splatoon will have the ultimate opportunity to do so during the Splatoon Summer Testfire 2016 – Free Online Demo Event launching in Europe on August 18. Players can download the Testfire demo for free from Nintendo eShop and play it until the end of the Testfire period on September 1 – an ideal opportunity to visit Inkopolis for the first time*.
  • Nintendo Selects: Still want to discover a Wii U game you missed the first time around? Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World and Mario Party 10 will be the latest additions to the Nintendo Selects range for Wii U. These are some of the most popular games for the system, with over 2 million units sold. copies in Europe so far**. These new Nintendo Selects titles will be released on September 30.
  • Paper Mario: Color Splash: The first installment in a new series of videos, “Rescue V”, is now available to watch on Nintendo’s YouTube channel. These fun, vintage-style movies about a team of brave Toads will be appearing on a regular basis until the launch of Paper Mario: Color Splash on October 7. Fans can also tune in to on August 18, 19 and 20 at 3:30 PM GMT, and August 21 at 3:00 PM GMT for a live stream of the in-game Dark Bloo Inn level. (German)
  • Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon: Game Freaks Shigeki Morimoto will take the stage for a live game session with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Pokémon trainers can follow it on on August 18 at 5:00 PM (German)
  • New colors for New Nintendo 3DS XL systems: On November 11, two New Nintendo 3DS XL systems will be released in new colors in the Benelux. These colors are Pearl White and Orange + Black.
  • Nintendo 2DS + YO-KAI WATCH® Bundle: The first of two Nintendo 2DS bundles announced today consists of a blue Nintendo 2DS system with YO-KAI WATCH® pre-installed. This bundle will be released on October 7 and offers players the perfect ticket to Springdale and its mysterious inhabitants.
  • Nintendo 2DS + Nintendo presents: New Style Boutique 2 – Fashion Forward Bundle: The second Nintendo 2DS bundle consists of a pink Nintendo 2DS system with Nintendo presents: New Style Boutique 2 – Fashion Forward pre-installed. It allows players to start their own boutique and make a career in the fashion world, from designer to model, aiming to make a name for themselves in the fashion industry. This bundle will be available from October 7.
  • YO-KAI WATCH® 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2®: Fleshy Souls: The next major chapters in the YO-KAI WATCH® series for Nintendo 3DS family systems are coming to Europe in Spring 2017. They tell about the origins of the Yo-kai Watch and offer an even greater diversity of Yo-kai, improved strategic elements and a new multiplayer mode. Two to four players, each with their own system and game, can work together in co-op mode to earn rewards that they can then use in the single player adventure.
  • Mario Party: Star Rush: Bringing new Mario action to Nintendo 3DS family systems on October 7. This portable part in the series gives the party a new twist because all players always have their turn. This makes the game run faster and also gains strategic depth. Visitors to gamescom this year can try the new Toad Scramble mode, which will be playable for fans for the first time.
  • DRAGON QUEST VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past: The next big RPG for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems is also at gamescom. Visitors will be able to play DRAGON QUEST VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past at Nintendo’s booth before the game’s first ever release in Europe on September 16.   • Indie titles: Once again this year, Nintendo will dedicate a section of the booth to talented developers who will be showcasing their upcoming titles for Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. This year, Shin’en Multimedia will showcase new DLC tracks for FAST Racing NEO, while Image & Form will showcase SteamWorld Collection. These two games will become the first Nintendo eShop Selects titles to release for Wii U as retail versions on September 30. In addition, Axiom Verge for Wii U will be on the show floor, Rain Games will be present with World to the West for Wii U, and 13AM Games will be showing Pirate Pop Plus! and Runbow Pocket for New Nintendo 3DS systems.
