DICE Boosts DXR Performance by up to 50% with New Battlefield V: Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture Update

Tomorrow’s Battlefield V: Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture update brings new content and a substantial improvement in DXR ray tracing performance to Battlefield V. GeForce Gamers are fully up to date with the new Game Ready Driver.

Substantial Increase in Performance with DXR Ray Tracing Applications in Battlefield V

On November 14, Battlefield V became the first-ever game with DXR Ray Tracing support. Since then, we’ve worked closely with DICE and EA to further optimize DXR Ray Tracing in Battlefield V, resulting in performance improvements of up to 50%.

GeForce RTX 2080 Ti gamers are now able to achieve 60+ FPS at a 1440p resolution with DXR Raytraced Reflections at Ultra quality.

GeForce RTX 2080 gamers are now able to achieve 60+ FPS at a 1440p resolution with DXR Raytraced Reflections at Medium quality.

GeForce RTX 2070 gamers are now able to achieve 60+ FPS at a 1080p resolution with DXR Raytraced Reflections at Medium quality.

These optimizations include the following (which can also be found in DICE’s official patch notes):

• In-game stability improvements with DXR Ray Tracing on.
• Improved performance on many applications regarding Ray Tracing implementation.
• Improved Ray Tracing performance on plants, shrubs and other ingame vegetation.
• Using frame buffer data where possible, to improve the overall Ray Tracing quality.
• Removed inactive geometry from ray traced scenes
• Fixed medium quality setting was not applied correctly – now it is.

Game Ready and Optimized for DXR in Battlefield V

GeForce Gamers are Game Ready today with the new Game Ready Driver for Battlefield V: Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture. This driver also takes the gaming experience for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth (with improved DX12 performance) and the upcoming Just Cause 4 to the next level.

Available on or before game launch, NVIDIA Game Ready Drivers always ensure the best gaming experience for GeForce gamers. NVIDIA engineers are working to the last possible minutes to optimize game performance and perfect gameplay. And to back up and guarantee quality, every Game Ready Driver is WHQL certified by Microsoft

Of course, our driver team’s job doesn’t stop once a game has been released. The team members keep working hard and unflappable to continuously improve game performance. This work translates into improvements in Battlefield V, which realizes performance improvements of up to 50% with DXR Ray Tracing support, depending of course on the GPU and configuration gamers are playing on.
