Originally, Resident Evil 2 could have been played in interior view.
In an informal roundtable discussion, the game’s developers talked about how much of their ideas had to be cut out of the final version.
Resident Evil 2 was loved by both veterans and newcomers to the series, and we would have a hard time finding pivotal points that should have been done differently during development. However, the path of a game from the early plans to the gold record containing the final version is not arrow-straight, and many otherwise seemingly great ideas are dropped on the go. Exactly such, eventually discarded plans have now been told by the developers of Resident Evil 2.
A roundtable discussion focused on what functions and changes were eventually made on the cutting table. For example, according to the original plans, we could have chosen two new perspectives, in addition to the finally accepted over-the-shoulder camera view: on the one hand, the internal view mode introduced in Resident Evil VII would have returned, and on the other hand, the original fixed camera view solution could have been chosen. would be those who believe in the total evocation of the past.

It also turned out that the creators wanted to introduce a whole new type of opponent, which was called “condemned”. These ugliness in the orphanage would have scared us in the form of various jump scares, but in the end their concept didn’t get beyond a few sketches. Non-fairy-tale characters are these “condemned” creatures, this one of these drawings is completely certain.
The idea was to redesign the Tyrant as well: Capcom officials planned to gift it with a much more metallic look, but as you know, they eventually opted for the classic look (with a hat, of course). Finally, on a theoretical level, the concept of possibly having to install a few extra exterior venues so that the whole game isn’t so tied to classic interiors was also discussed.
