Over 1,000 free icons to customize your macOS Big Sur apps and folders.
macOS Big Sur has been with us for a few days now. If you are already familiar with the system, you may want to customize some aspect of the system such as icons. Elías Ruiz has created macOSicons.com, a collection of more than 1,000 icons for apps that you can use for free on your Mac.
Hundreds of icons to customize your favorite apps on macOS Big Sur
Organized alphabetically and with a search engine, we can find icons for all types of app. From the well-known Affinity Photo or the Adobe suite, through lesser-known apps like Cardhop. Even of games like Diablo 3 and the system’s own apps. Whatever app you want to modify, look for it to download a custom icon.
We can also find some examples to change system folder icons. Music, Downloads, Library, System and more are in this compilation. Modifying the icon of an app or folder is very simple, you just have to follow these steps:
- Find the app or folder that you want to modify.
- Select it and press cmd + i to open the information menu.
- Drag the icon you want to put over the original icon. You will see that before releasing it transforms into a green “+”.
- Close the information window and the icon will have changed.
To remove the icon, simply select it from the information window and hit the delete button. It will return to its original state and reduce the space added by the icon to the app or folder.
