Children love to create: cut out figures out of paper and create applications, draw, assemble, build and create models from a construction set, color ready-made illustrations and, of course, mold something from plasticine. Not all children are creators, but many are. For example, I spent more time reading, and drawing and modeling was very difficult for me, and it was boring, except that I had to exert myself during school classes. However, both of my children liked to draw, carve and model. And, you know, I also find it interesting to dedicate myself to applied arts and crafts with them. It is happiness when you see your child create. The only problem is that modeling used to be limited to simple stick figures – you get a little man. But thanks to the programClay» you can easily solve this problem, and I will tell you how below.
Clay modeling is inherently very easy when you know how to create the basic shapes and what you can do with them afterwards. The difficulty lies in organizing the process effectively and thinking things through in advance. The way we usually sculpt, at least judging by me. You roll a torso, then you start rolling an arm, a leg, and then smaller parts. But instead of making basic shapes for the same arms and legs at once, you make one finished piece each time, which is time consuming. But you can unroll a thin sausage and cut it into four pieces at once – these are the blanks for the arms and legs. All you have to do is give them the desired shape with the help of practical tools.
The duration of the sculpting process, when you don’t really think about the process and do everything one by one, is long and this is probably the reason for some children’s boredom. However, if you want to create, you will start looking for more effective sculpting techniques on your own. With the Plasticine app, you don’t even have to do this. In fact, the program is not only a tutorial for modeling 25 very complicated, but beautiful and interesting figures, or even entire plots, but also a small encyclopedia of plasticine and the organization of the creative process with its help.
The first four sections are the encyclopedia mentioned above. It tells you about the types of plasticine, of which there are many (and I didn’t know it!)…
…About the tools used in modeling…
…About the basic shapes that can be used to create any character and decoration…
…And also about the colors. It turns out that plasticine of different colors can be mixed literally like paint, getting a new version:
Passing the eyes through the preparatory part is not difficult and does not take much time. The authors have not spilled “water” and have only given the necessary information, for which they are thanked.
Once you’ve brushed up on (or picked up new) skills in modeling, you can move right into creating, and the process is cleverly organized. Each instruction is worth five local coins. 10 are given initially, another 15 can be won by publicizing the program on social media and liking the official video on Vimeo. In other words, you can get five instructions for free, you have to pay for the rest, and there’s nowhere to turn if your favorite child says, “I want it!” Above all, it is not a toy or a “Farm”, but a useful encyclopedia. In general, the authors are calculating.
Having paid for the instructions, you can safely proceed to the process of creating your little masterpiece. All this is explained in detail and step by step: what basic shapes you have to prepare, how many and how to bring them to the correct shape. With all this information in hand, you can sculpt a figure in a matter of minutes, but the child, of course, will take a little longer. But when he finishes and sees how beautiful it is, believe me, there will be no limit to his happiness and he will have to buy all the instructions. So it’s better to do it all at once and in bulk: it’s cheaper.
Especially you can add your favorite works to your favorites so that you can quickly return to them at any time.
I liked the concise interface, as well as the idea of \u200b\u200bthe tiles in the main menu, when the main figure is displayed, as well as the same figure, but as part of a whole plot, which you can also mold yourself.
In addition, the program is adapted to tablets, including the iPad with Retina display and iPad mini, as well as the iPhone, including the “five”.
There are no complaints about the program. It is well done, the menu is well thought out and the content is very good. The only thing missing is some unobtrusive background music. The question that arises is what to do when the child makes all the suggested figures. After all, he will say: “I want more!”. I really hope the authors add more different and interesting stories in future updates.
- Maximum useful information and detailed instructions;
- high-quality adaptation for all iOS devices;
- funny arguments.
- Weak sound design.
What I would add:
- Background music;
- more instructions and stories.
Usability: 4, Interface: 4, Design: 4, Price/Quality: 4, Verdict: 4
