Pokémon Go – Raid Eggs: Which bosses hatch from pink, yellow and black eggs and their level of difficulty

Eggs have always played an important role in the Pokémon universe, so it’s hardly surprising that they also play a special role in Pokémon Go. In addition to the eggs for hatching, there have also been raid eggs for some time. You will discover them together with a countdown on the map above the arena before each boss fight.

Since you usually do not know which boss is hatching from the egg, it is difficult to prepare for the upcoming raid. But if you are familiar with the colored eggs, you can at least draw a few conclusions and roughly narrow down the level of difficulty and the possible boss.

If you want to know more about the general flow of these raids instead, take a look at our Pokémon Go Raids: Everything about the Raid Pass, Levels and Rewards page.

Pokémon Go – yellow, pink and dark egg and their level of difficulty (normal, rare, legendary)

As already noted, you cannot directly see which boss you are up against in the “Nearby” view. However, you can roughly estimate the difficulty of the upcoming raid fight with a few pieces of information. The grinning faces help you the most – the more grinning faces that are displayed under the arena, the more difficult the boss is and the higher his WP value.

As an advanced trainer, you can do lighter raid battles on your own. It is of course easier with a smaller group, which can be necessary even with the medium difficulty levels. For the most difficult opponents you don’t even need to move in without a larger fighting force, they are simply too strong.

Another indicator of the level of difficulty are the raid eggs, which are displayed on the map and in the “Nearby” tab along with the two-hour countdown before a raid. The eggs come in the three colors pink (normal), yellow (rare) and black (legendary) and provide a first indication of the difficulty of the upcoming fight.

The three egg colors are divided into five levels of difficulty, which are shown in the “Nearby” view. The “normal” pink eggs hatch level 1 or 2 bosses. “Rare” yellow eggs are equipped with level 3 or 4 bosses. Black eggs – also known as dark raid eggs – contain a legendary level 5 boss. This is guaranteed not to be an easy matter, which means that the question of whether one should dare such a raid solo is almost superfluous.

Pokémon made from pink eggs

The weakest bosses hatch from the pink raid eggs in Pokémon Go. They correspond to either difficulty level 1 or 2. If you were looking forward to an easy raid, that’s probably exactly your thing. Conversely, this means that you don’t need that many people to bring these raid bosses to their knees. If your trainer is higher than level 30, he has no bad chances against these Pokémon even on his own. Here is an overview of the pocket monsters that come out of the pink things, sorted by level:

step 1

  • Magikarp (1,165 WP)
  • Safcon (1,534 WP)
  • Wailmer (3,369 WP)
  • Schillok (4,503 WP)
  • Glutexo (5.085 WP)
  • Bisaknosp (5,238 WP)

Pokémon made from yellow eggs

Here it becomes much more difficult, but also more rewarding in the end. Significantly more challenging Pokémon emerge from the yellow raid eggs than from the pink ones. You are at least on difficulty level 3, but can also have reached level 4. Trainers with a lot of experience and the necessary Pokémon can only take down the weakest bosses single-handedly in this league. Usually, however, these fights all require significantly more manpower when it comes to the coaches. Unless you’re keen on solo success, you’d better get support and try it together. Here is an overview of which monsters hatch from the yellow eggs:

level 3

  • Porygon (11,419 WP)
  • Vulnona (14,914 WP)
  • Sichlor (17,358 WP)
  • Machomei (18,144 WP)
  • Amoroso (18,915 WP)
  • Gengar (19,768 WP)
  • Simsala (22,646 WP)

Pokémon made from black / dark eggs

From the dark raid eggs hatch in Pokémon Go the strongest bosses, namely the legendary monsters. They all correspond to difficulty level 5 and cannot possibly be defeated on your own. In addition, you can’t just throw a group of any Pokémon together and assume that it will knock down a legendary raid boss. The fewer trainers involved in the fight, the more important it is that the right counter-Pokémon and attacks are used. Here is an overview of which pocket monsters come out of the black eggs:

Level 5

  • Arktos (37,603 WP)
  • Entei (38,628 WP)
  • Ho-Oh (48.276 WP)
  • Kyogre (51,968 WP)
  • Moltres (41,953 WP)
  • Lugia (42,753 WP)
  • Mewtwo (49,430 WP)
  • Raikou (42,932 WP)
  • Suicune (34,471 WP)
  • Zapdos (42,691 WP)
