How the ‘Season of Legends’ Research works in Pokémon Go

The Investigation missions, which allow players to complete challenges for rewards, were released in March 2018 and are divided into several categories, including special and temporary.

The Season of Legends mission is a special investigation, so it doesn’t have a deadline and will remain available after the event ends, so you can complete it in no rush.

This fact-finding mission is divided into five steps, each with three individual challenges. You will be rewarded with various items, Pokémon encounters, XP or Stardust for each individual challenge and general step that you complete. The steps, yes, must be completed in order.

What is the Season of Legends in Pokémon Go?

Seasons are periods within the game in which new updates and events are introduced in Pokémon Go, and the second is called Season of Legends.

Its name comes from the launch of several legendary Pokémon that have to debut in Pokémon Go. Among them are the Totem Forms of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus, in addition to other legendaries yet to be confirmed.

As this season is focused on Legendary Pokémon, the XP you will receive from five-star Raids will be increased during the Season of Legends.

During Season of Legends, the following Pokémon (among others) will appear more often in the wild in the following hemispheres:

In addition to Legendary Pokémon, you’ll be able to play Season 7 of the Go Fighting League, new Mega Evolutions, changes to Pokémon that appear in the wild or in Eggs, and other events yet to be announced.

When does the Season of Legends end in Pokémon Go: how long is the Season of Legends and when does it end?

Season of Legends starts on Monday, March 1 at 08:00 (local time) and ends on Tuesday, June 1 at 10:00 (local time).

It is important to note that the Season of Legends special research mission do not has the time limitation of the event itself and will remain available when the Season ends.

Go Fighting League Season 7 will also be the same length, although the exact dates and times for some cups and leagues may change throughout the Season.

Although Season of Legends has a specific start date and time, new features will roll out slowly throughout the season, including the arrival of new Legends and other in-game events.

What are the Seasons in Pokémon Go?

First introduced in December 2020, Seasons are three-month in-game periods that will tie together multiple events with the same theme, and will debut adding new features and enhancements to the game.

Among these changes are:

  • Changes to how Pokémon appear in each Season: some creatures will appear more often (or less) in the wild during these periods
  • Changes to Pokémon that appear in Eggs and Raids
  • Certain Pokémon will appear more (or less) in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere based on the seasons in the real world.
  • Some Mega Evolutions will be more important, receiving an increase in power throughout certain seasons.
  • New forms of Deerling
  • A new Season of the Go Fighting League, which will last the same as the seasons
  • Other general quality of life improvements

In addition to these changes from one Season to another, specific new features will also be introduced and existing functionalities will be tweaked.
