Polar Unite: a sports smartwatch for amateurs that promises up to 29 days of autonomy

If Polar launched a few months ago its new flagship product, the Polar Grit X, the Finnish company is betting once again on the market of connected sports watches with the new Polar Unite. It is a watch similar to the Polar Ignite with which the manufacturer promises up to 29 hours of autonomy. It is waterproof (30 meters) and can be purchased today for 150 euros. Let’s get to know him better.

A simpler and more sporty design

If the Polar Grit X had a button-filled finish and a more exterior design, the Polar Unite is the opposite. Its design is much simpler, with a single button at the bottom left, and light, since it weighs only 32 grams. To put things in context, the Polar Ignite weighs 35 grams and the Polar Grit X 44 grams without strap.

In the lower area we have the Polar Precision Prime, the ten LED heart sensor that we have already seen in the Grit X. It consists of five red LEDs, four orange and one green, which, according to Polar, helps to improve penetration into the skin and, therefore, to get more accurate measurements. Obviously, the watch is capable of recording the pulse continuously.

We will now talk about the sport, but before we review its characteristics as a smart watch. The Polar Unite has a TFT touch screen with a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels. It is protected by Assahí Glass, has an ambient light sensor and can be personalized with different spheres.

Inside, there is a 174 mAh battery capable of providing up to 50 hours with connected GPS and pulse recording, up to four days in clock mode with continuous recording of heart rate and up to 29 days in clock mode. That, according to the manufacturer, of course, because in the end it will depend on the use we make of it.

Over 100 sport modes

Polar understands it as a watch designed for people who exercise at home or who have just started in the world of fitness and do not know where to start. Polar therefore implemented the technology FitSpark, a guide to daily training adapted to the user, his physical condition, his training history and his recovery during sleep.

Speaking specifically of sleep, the Polar Unite has Sleep Plus steps, which detects the phases of sleep, the quality and quantity of sleep; Night recharge, which analyzes how the body recovers while we sleep after exercise; and Serene, which is a mode of relaxation with guided breathing exercises.

Night recharge

As for the exercise, the watch is compatible with more than 100 sport modes, it is water resistant to 30 meters, it has inactivity alerts and it is compatible with Polar Flow (Web and application). What it doesn’t have is a built-in GPS, but to save a route, it will be necessary to connect it to the mobile (and keep it).

Polar Unite versions and prices

The Polar Unite can be purchased today from the Polar website. Its price will be 150 euros and will be available on black, white, coral and blue. Two different size straps and the USB charger are included in the box. It is compatible with Polar Ignite bracelets and with the new mint and pink silicone bracelets, at 23 euros each.
