PS5-compatible Dualshock 4 for backward-compatible PS4 games
PlayStation has finally revealed details about the compatibility of Dualshock 4 and PlayStation 4 peripherals with its next console, PS5.
As shared by Sony on the official blog, you can use the DS4 on PS5, but with limitations.
Sony reveals that the DS4 can be used on its next console, but only to play PS4 games backwards compatible with the PS5. You won’t be able to use it to play games made for PS5.
PlayStation 5 will arrive accompanied by DualSense, its new controller, equipped with new technologies that games will take into account and with which the DS4 is not compatible.
“PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features that we will present on the platform, including the features of the DualSense wireless controller,” says the company.
Other PS4 peripherals, such as arcade sticks and steering wheels will be compatible with PS5, just as the PS Move and VR Aim controls will be compatible with the VR games released on PS5.
The PS4 PlayStation Camera will be compatible with the PS5, but you will need an adapter that will be provided free of charge.
As for headsets, Sony confirms the compatibility of the Gold and Platinum models, as well as that of all headsets with USB or jack input.
