Resident Evil Village is number 1 in the UK and becomes the third best-selling PS5 game.
Capcom’s game becomes the second-biggest UK release of the year, second only to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.
Last Friday, Resident Evil Village, the new installment of the Capcom saga, went on sale for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Stadia and PC. Surely you have had a scary weekend with Lady Dimitrescu and company, because the sales figures for the game are really good all over the world. Especially in the UK, where it has become number 1.
We’ve already told you that Ada Wong was going to be part of the Village storyline, as well as loads of Capcom game guides. But it is time to talk about sales, and it is that Resident Evil Village has become number 1 in the UK, above FIFA 21 or New Pokémon Snap.
Not only that, but Ethan Winters’ adventure is the third biggest PlayStation 5 launch in the UK, just behind Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The new from Capcom also holds another record in British territory, and that is that it has also become the second biggest release of the year, second only to Super Mario 3D World for Nintendo Switch.
Breaking down these sales figures, it must be said that almost half (49%) of the sold copies of Village belong to the PS5 version, while 31% have been produced for PS4 and 20% for Xbox consoles. Capcom’s game also celebrates a record on Xbox, as it is the second best-selling game in recent months for that platform, only behind Black Ops Cold War.
Mind you, it’s not all good news for Resident Evil Village. Comparing it to other recent games in the series, this installment has reaped 25% less sales than Resident Evil 2 Remake, and almost 40% less than Resident Evil 7. On the other hand, it has managed to overcome the debut of Resident Evil 3 Remake, selling 76% more than the adventure of Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira.
Anyway, do not forget that these sales (provided by GamesIndustry) digital copies don’t count Resident Evil Village sold in PS Store, Microsoft Store and Steam. And, in the case of Valve’s platform, Capcom’s game has become one of their biggest hits.
