Review: Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus (PS4) – Diaries of Agent Silent Death.

Agent’s Diaries Silent Death“is the second chapter of the Chronicles of Freedom, a series of short additions to a very successful game Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. This time, the developers offer stealth-based gameplay, but they arouse an appetite that they are unable to satisfy, and this is not the only problem with the prepared expansion.

The second expansion focuses on the fate of the lethal agent, Silent Death. Again, we get a short story with a narrative full of clichés, stylized as comics from the war period. History has been pushed to the background again and the only things we will remember are the alcoholic monologues of our heroine, because she emphasizes at every step that she does not shy away from alcohol.

Our goal will be to kill three high-ranking commanders in the name of revenge for the death of our beloved husband – no other tasks or boss fights. We enter, we silently do our job and run away. Sounds banal and it is. An interesting idea was not put to proper use and it is genuinely hard to find anything noticeably positive in the enlargement.

The whole thing is stealth and unfortunately it cannot defend itself with it. The freedom to choose our style of play is a very strong advantage of the recent editions Wolfenstein, but you won’t see it here. Eliminating enemies silently is a great diversion, but it is not extensive enough to be the main element of a standalone story. It is bland and monotonous.

The gameplay has not been developed in any way, and the design of the locations is average, especially since there are very few of them. The stages are too linear, so sneaking alone is not very satisfying. Artificial intelligence also cannot surprise in a positive way. The expansion is easy to handle, because completing the expansion is only an hour and a half of fun.

Our agent’s expedition is even more disappointing than the previous expansion pack and gives the impression of a code stuck together quickly to release something after the premiere of the great stand. It is not surprising, and in many respects is even a step back. We will go to the Hollywood film studio, where the ___s are shooting a game show “In German or …” and the moonbase, but when you go to them, you won’t find anything interesting.

Unfortunately, the second part of the Chronicles of Freedom is a poorly executed coupon cutting that highlights the disadvantages of an average and simple stealth system. It doesn’t mean, however, that I didn’t like the adventure at all. Once again, the atmosphere and atmosphere of alternative history make a good impression, which is intensified by numerous finds that build the credibility of the created world.

Review: Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus (PS4) – Diaries of Agent Silent Death

It’s still very good Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossusso it’s still fun to play. The gameplay itself is brutal and great, but here – additionally limited. They enjoy new challenges on three fresh maps that will take us a little more time, if you like this type of fun and improving your results. Otherwise, you have nothing to look for here.

The Chronicles of Freedom increasingly seem to be an unnecessary and not well-made supplement. I would definitely prefer one extension that offers more content than a series of prepared DLCs. The price-performance ratio is very subjective, but in my opinion the second extension is not worth the amount the authors are calling for, and it’s hard for me to recommend “Agent’s Diaries Silent Death“.
