SEGA delays the Mega Drive Mini to 2019

SEGA has confirmed on its Japanese Twitter account the delay of the SEGA Mega Drive Mini console (via Gematsu).

As indicated, the reason is the good reception that his announcement had among the North American and European public. They want to launch a “Genesis” model for North America and another “Mega Drive” for Europe and simultaneously release the Japanese version.

Faced with the impossibility of launching the consoles simultaneously this year, they have chosen to delay the launch to 2019.

They also say that they will rethink their approach to the console, working with people from the main team of Mega Drive and with Japanese experts in software development to make sure that the emulation is of the quality that fans of the console expect.
