SEGA has announced in a press release that it is preparing to sell its recreational division.

Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. to sell 85.1% of SEGA Entertainment’s shares to the company specialized in recreational games GENDA; the main reason is the incidence of the coronavirus in the sector.

In the statement they indicate that “as has been severely affected by COVID-19, facility utilization has dropped notably, and significant losses have been recorded during Q1 of the fiscal year ending March 21. “

After considering various changes, SEGA has decided to sell to GENDA, which had a strong interest in expanding its arcade business.

As reported by Siliconera and Famitsu, the arcade facilities will keep the SEGA name after the change of hands.
