Sekiro: Help Kumano Jinzaemon in his search for the melody or lure him to Dojun

Jinzaemon Kumano is a noble warrior who cares for the protection of the Ashina Castle moat. You meet him in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for the first time her the Ashina dam explored from Ashina Castle. To do this, stay on the large square with the two large club-swinging giants on the left (where the shooters are) and run to the abyss.

Look to the right there and you will see another level, to which you can climb over using a grapple or sneak along the wall. On the other side you finally discover Jinzaemon. He is leaning over an old fountain and staring down into the hole (this is the fountain in which you experienced Sekiro’s intro).

If you speak to the samurai, he will initially babble, lost in thought, more or less senseless nonsense. However, if you say hello afterwards, he will be startled and introduce himself and his task properly.

If you talk to him again after the introductory round, Jinzaemon will ask you if you have ever heard someone play the Shamisen “here”. At this point, the conversation and the possibilities that follow split into two paths:

Lure Jinzaemon Kumano to dojuns in the Forsaken Dungeon

If you have already met the strange surgeon in the abandoned dungeon who is looking for a strong man, you have two possible answers: You can either lure Jinzaemon into the dungeon or not say a word about it.

Danger: Should you decide to send Jinzaemon Kumano to Dojun in the Abandoned Dungeon, you will end Jinzaemon’s side quest line permanently and permanently.

What sad fate awaits Kumano in the dungeon and what rewards you get for it, you can find out on the page Sekiro: Finding a strong man for Dojun in the abandoned dungeon.

Help Jinzaemon Kumano in his quest for the melody and the shamisen player

If you do not want to end Jinzaemon’s quest line early, you must never mention the dungeon in one of its many encounters. When asked about the Shamisen player, you answer directly in the negative (if you have not spoken to Dojun before) or by not telling the samurai about the dungeon (if you have spoken to Dojun), which also equates to a no.

So after you haven’t condemned the music lover to his fate in the dungeon, the conversation with him ends very quickly and you can’t do much at this point either. However, Jinzaemon moves on through the country in search of the melody and its source (if he does not suffer from dragon rot), so that sooner or later you can run into him again.

The next time you meet him in the abandoned dungeon just a few steps away from the figure “Bottomless Hole”. He sits there next to a fire basket on the stone, hears the enticing melody again and wants to follow it deeper into the cave. Again, you have the opportunity to send him to Dojun in the dungeon and end his quest line early. If you spare his life here, too, Kumano moves on once more.

You can meet the Samurai next after the fight against Snake Eye Shirahagi and the Guardian Monkey – right after you leave the cave. Just look down from the ledge on the left and you will see him sitting next to the tree.

If you talk to him there, he will tell you about the beautiful woman who plays on the Shamisen. He has finally seen her, but she has dissolved in the fog. He also mentions a story from his father about a village (mibu) hidden in the fog. At the end of the conversation you can send him back to Dojun’s dungeon. However, if you want to pursue Jinzaemon’s quest line further, you mustn’t say a word about it.

The end of the search

If you have never lured Jinzaemon to Dojun in the Abandoned Dungeon, the music lover’s final stop is the water mill in the hidden village of Mibu (Depths of Ashina). He is sitting on the rock face along the path that leads to the fighting area against O’rin des Wasser on the left of the figure “Watermill”. If you talk to him, he is now pretty sure that “she” is targeting him the whole time.

To continue with Jinzaemon’s quest line, you must keep following the path. After a few steps through the narrow path along the rock walls you will finally meet the beautiful Shamisen player. At first she appears to you as an NPC that you can address. Regardless of whether you do the same or not, or whether you just walk past her, in the end everything leads to her facing you as intermediate boss O’rin of the water. You have to defeat them for the samurai to continue.

Danger: Should you defeat O’rin of the water before Jinzaemon has traveled to his final stop in the village of Mibu, he will resent you for the musician’s death. Means: He becomes hostile and attacks you if you run into him. The same thing happens if you don’t speak to Jinzaemon before defeating O’rin.

If you defeat O’rin after Jinzaemon has come to the village of Mibu and after you have spoken to him, she speaks of Sakuza, who brought her “this man” instead of him. This of course means Jinzaemon. Return to the samurai and speak to him.

He thanks you for bringing the Shamisen player to him and gives you one Jinza’s Jizo statue. After that, O’rin’s “lullaby” makes him fall asleep … forever. So his fate was always death, regardless of whether you send him to the dungeon or not.
