The Amazfit GTR 2 is undoubtedly a huge success of the brand, proof of this is the immense difficulty for sellers to have stocks. But Amazfit decided to drive the point home with a “light” version of the latter: theAmazfit GTR 2e.

We therefore offer you a little tour of the owner, and you will see that the GTR 2e does not have to be ashamed in front of its elder.

Two very similar connected watches

The Amazfit GTR 2e retains the beautiful 1.39 ″ color AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 * 454 pixels. On the aesthetic side, almost no visible difference, except that the 2e version is only offered in an aluminum finish. However, it will be available in 3 colors: black, gray or a very light green.

It is also water resistant (5 ATM) and keeps all the GTR 2 sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, ambient light sensor, heart and SpO2 sensor and barometer.

On the connectivity side, the watch maintains the Bluetooth 5.0 connection and the GPS.

Amazfit GTR 2e: which features have been removed?

Let’s move on to what annoys. Amazfit has chosen to abandon some features in order to lower the price of the watch.

Goodbye to the internal 4GB memory on which you could store music. Goodbye also to Wifi and the speaker which are no longer in the game. As you will have understood, you will no longer be able to answer your calls directly on the watch. You will need to pick up your phone, although the Xiaomi Amazfit GTS 2e displays incoming calls.

Last abandonment, the number of sports follow-ups goes from 90 to 12. Nothing horrible on this side, especially since this point will probably be corrected by an update to come.

The advantages of the Xiaomi Amazfit GTR 2e

The GTR 2e gains some features despite its lower price. To begin with, she gains a temperature sensor that will measure the ambient temperature and the temperature of your skin.

But above all, the main gain is here: the autonomy goes from 14 days on the GTR 2 (in conventional use) to 24 days! The Amazfit GTR 2e is therefore a monster of autonomy!

Like the models from which they are inspired, the main difference between the two watches lies in their format. The Amazfit GTS 2e is thus a square (square) watch, while the Amazfit GTR 2e is a round (round) watch. In this, they continue the lineage of the models launched in October 2020.

Both watches also take on the elegant appearance of the base models with a particularly elegant design, with an aluminum case and thin bezels around the screen. The screen is otherwise identical to previous versions with a square display of 1.65 inches diagonal and a resolution of 341 pixels per inch for the GTS 2e, and a round screen of 1.39 inches in radius and 326 pixels per inch. inch for GTR 2e.

Regarding health monitoring, the two watches take advantage of a BioTrackerTM 2 PPG optical sensor to measure heart rate as well as a SpO2 measurement for blood oxygenation. They are also able to monitor sleep quality, stress level, and workouts with 90 sports available.

It is truly on autonomy that Amazfit seems to have made great efforts on its new connected watches. While the GTS 2 and GTR 2 were already particularly enduring with a use of two weeks, the manufacturer communicates this time up to 45 days of use on the GTS 2e and GTR 2e.

Enough to make it among the most autonomous watches on the market, alongside hybrid models like the Withings Scanwatch. In detail, the GTR 2e is able to operate in classic mode for 24 days while the GTS 2e has a classic autonomy of 14 days before switching to energy saving mode.

The new Amazfit GTS 2e and GTR 2e watches will be launched in France during the month of January, both priced at 129.90 euros.

Here the Amazfit GTS 2 announced last month … it should soon be completed with a GTS 2e variant // Source: Huami

At the end of October, we presented the freshly unveiled Amazfit GTR 2 and GTS 2 to you. Fifteen days later, here we are confronted with images retrieved from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) listings on which new models materialize: the GTR 2e and GTS 2e, two variants of the respective models announced two weeks ago by the subsidiary of Huami. Spotted by TizenHelp (via GSMArena), the latter would actually be classic GTR 2 and GTS 2, but simply intended for the Indian market. As the media recalled, the two watches announced at the end of October were indeed reserved for Europe and the United States.

For the time being, the Amazfit Indian store is therefore still ignoring the Amazfit GTR 2 and GTS 2, in favor of the first generation GTR and GTS, still on display, but on sale. The thing could therefore change if one believes GSMArena.

On the screenshots filed with the FCC, we find the mentions GTR 2e and GTS 2e embellished with the respective references of these two new models (A2023 and A2021).

According to the visuals unearthed, both watches will benefit from Wi-Fi connectivity and a design similar to the GTR 2 and GTS 2 with a rectangular dial for the GTS 2e and a round dial for the GTR 2e. We should also find an AMOLED screen in Gorilla 3D treated glass.

As a reminder, the Amazfit announced for the rest up to 14 days of classic use for the GTR 2 and 7 days for the GTS 2. Figures that should logically affect these possible Indian models, whose full specifications should be unveiled soon.

Details of Amazfit GTR 2e and GTS 2e emerge as Huami develops Amazfit line

Huami appears to be busy expanding their Amazfit GTR and GTS ranges quickly. Details of an Amazfit GTS 2e smartwatch were recently shared online and this information was quickly followed by a leak regarding a potential Amazfit GTR 2e model. It is not yet known whether Huami will use the term “lite” in the name of these upcoming devices.

Huami hasn’t rested on its laurels after the successful launch of the Amazfit GTR 2 and GTS 2. Not only is the company working on devices from its higher-end Zepp line, with the Zepp Z set to make an appearance next week, but it also seems to intend to expand the current GTR 2 and GTS 2 ranges with other devices. We have already talked about the potential of the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini and now we have a GTR 2e and a GTS 2e making some surprise appearances.

The FCC certification for a device with model number A2021 has the application name “Amazfit GTS 2e”, so it is possible that Huami decided to switch to using the suffix “lite” for this second generation of smartwatches. and opted for the more economical accessory “e” instead. The “Label” section of the certification reveals some images of the interface, and like the normal Amazfit GTS 2e, the “e” model apparently also has a square display.

It is perhaps not surprising that immediately after the discovery of the GTS 2e, the FCC documents regarding the Amazfit GTR 2e (model number A2023) came to light. The images shown in this app show a circular display similar to the larger Amazfit GTR 2 model already released. It is not yet clear what the probably cheaper GTS 2e and GTR 2e smartwatches will be missing to make them more affordable, although it has been speculated that they could lose the ability to connect to Wi-Fi (Bluetooth only), the NFC function, or even the ECG utility
