[SOLVED] : Six unknown functions of your Philips The One TV that will make you fall for it

A commercial operation in partnership with Philips

With its expertise in connected objects and its ability to decipher new uses as well as current high-tech trends, CNET France offers a series of practical and technical content on the Philips The One television. Articles drawn up and produced by our team, then approved by our partner.

The sunrise alarm

Have you installed the television in the bedroom? So, enjoy a gentle awakening. First select Sunrise alarm in the Quick menu (you can set up to five different ones). Start by determining the time to wake up, then the days of the week you want it to sound. Then choose the display theme (nature, paintings, animals, architecture…), then the alarm clock music and the sound volume. Finally, indicate your country and city of residence, and confirm by exiting the menu. At the appointed time, the music will start, while Ambilight will gradually diffuse a soft palette of colors. The screen will then light up on the chosen theme, and will superimpose the weather conditions for the day.

At sunrise, choose a pleasant theme to start the day off right

Combine Philips Hue and Ambilight bulbs

Thanks to Ambilight, the wall behind the TV takes on the colors that appear on the screen. Do you love this technology so much that you would like the whole room to light up that way? Well it is possible. You can indeed associate your Philips Hue smart bulbs with the Ambilight device. The setup only takes five minutes. Start by selecting the Hue bridge which manages the link between the connected bulbs, then indicate, via the graphical interface, the position and the distance of each light source in relation to the screen. Your films will take on a whole new dimension!

Bluetooth pairing

Do you have one or more Bluetooth speakers and would like to broadcast sound from your TV to them? Easy. Start pairing from your external speaker and select it in the menu Bluetooth from the TV. It’s as simple as that. From now on, as soon as you turn on the speaker, the sound will be played there. Select option Disconnect or Remove, to interrupt the connection.

The light sensor

Your Philips TV has a built-in light sensor that helps reduce energy consumption. It’s good for the planet, as much as it is for the wallet. The device, which is activated by default, measures the ambient lighting, and adapts the brightness of the television in real time, in order to offer you the best possible quality in all circumstances. The darker the room, the more the lighting is reduced. You can deactivate this function via the menu Ecological parameters.

The light sensor allows the screen to save power and keep your eyes in the dark.

Connect a computer to the TV

Tired of staring wide open at your small computer screen? Upgrade to size XXL! Connect by cable to one of the four HDMI ARC ports on the TV and select the input using the button Source on the remote control. And there you have it, it’s much clearer right away, isn’t it? Of course, you can use this function during a public presentation while maintaining control over the computer, since the display is kept there.

Remote control shortcut keys

Want to watch a series, movie or documentary on Netflix? For this, no need to go through the Android TV home screen. Simply press the Netflix button in the center of the remote control to immediately access the app. If you have a subscription to the Rakuten TV VOD service, again you can access it via a dedicated button. As for the touch marked with a stylized butterfly, it leads straight to the Philips TV collection which features the best premium applications of the moment, selected by Philips.

Philips launches its Hue Play HDMI Sync Box to synchronize all your lights with your TV

More than ever, our homes are connected and builders are betting on tech devices that allow for greater personalization. These manufacturers include Philips, which is launching a brand new product called Hue Play HDMI Sync Box.

Behind this extending name is a box allowing the synchronization of Philips connected bulbs with a television. Enough to create a unique mood light during cinematographic sessions … but also when listening to music or for gaming moments!

A personalized home with Philips lights

The Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is presented as a simple box to connect to your TV via an HDMI socket. It can be a television as well as a computer screen, for gaming aficionados.

Once the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is connected, you will need to go through the dedicated application of the same name. The latter then allows the light to be configured, whether in terms of its intensity, brightness, speed, color, etc. With the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box, the bulbs – which can be ten in number – react according to the sound and the image on the screen. Enough to create an atmosphere based on light variations for enhanced immersion. A concept already proposed by other manufacturers like Razer and Nanoleaf and which tends to become popular.

Well aware that many spectators have quality equipment, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box supports a definition up to 4K at 60 FPS with HDR10. HDMI 2.0b signals with HDCP 2.2 are also supported.

This Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box has one ultimate advantage: if, to take advantage of light synchronization, it was once necessary to have an Ambilight television, this is no longer the case with this box, which marks a real opening on the part of the brand since other television models are now compatible.

A certain price to pay to acquire the box

To personalize your screen using connected bulbs, you will need to go to checkout. The device will be marketed in France during the first quarter of 2020 at a listed price of 249.95 euros.

Elevation, From Ambilight With Hue Lighting System!

You know one of the shimmering peculiarities of the latest Philips TVs 5000 to 8000 series including DesignLine? The Ambilight technology that we have already told you about in our columns. Philips / TP Vision have added a new dimension to this innovative technology with the arrival of the new Elevation TV and the possibility of being able to synchronize your TV with the Hue lighting system.

Amibiligh technology

But let’s do a little refreshment on the principle that governs Ambilight technology. This technology allows your Philips TV to emit a halo of soft light around the screen. This light halo has the particularity of adapting its light and color according to the image.

Thus, your screen creates a real atmosphere on your wall inspired by the movie scenes, shows and other entertainment or sports shows you are watching. Emotion crosses the boundaries of the “small” screen to express itself in your living room or bedroom. This halo of light was present on the 3 upper sides of your television on the 5000 to 8000 series and the Philips DesignLign; this is called the Ambilight Spectra 3.
The Elevation range adds an extra side and the halo is expressed beyond the 4 sides of your TV, this is called the Ambilight 4 XL.

The Hue lighting system

Philips loves light, it’s in his DNA. So, they didn’t just want to enhance the Ambilight experience but enhance it with the help of the Hue lighting system. If you are new to the Hue system, it is simply a fully customizable, wireless lighting system. Thanks to your tablet or your smartphone, you can adapt the brightness of your bulbs to your mood, to your desires and that whatever the atmosphere and your favorite color.

You can use the timer option for a gentle awakening. You can also find an atmosphere that you have immortalized with a souvenir photo. Any photo on your mobile device can become a light palette. With your fingertip, you select the desired color or use the range of white lights to recreate the ideal shade. You are not at home? Never mind, your lighting system can be controlled remotely from your tablet or smartphone (using the Wi-Fi or 3G network). Turn your wireless bulbs on or off, set an on-cycle time to a certain time and give the illusion of being at home while you’re away or sunbathing on an abandoned beach. Plus, the Hue Lighting System features light therapy recipes to help you relax, focus, stimulate, and support your reading.

The Hue combine LED and wireless technologies allowing to obtain an infinite number of shades of white light from white-yellow to blue white. All the nuances of the spectrum are also reproducible in a natural way for the greatest pleasure of your eyes. You choose your bulb, you screw it to your lamp, you turn on the switch and you just have to select your shade according to your mood thanks to the application downloaded on your tablet or smartphone. The Hue Bridge, which is the gateway between your bulbs and the application, is connected to your wireless router and it can accommodate up to 50 bulbs at a time for the craziest atmospheres.

The Ambilight + Hue wedding

With regard to these two technologies, Philips could only marry them to make them interact together for our good pleasure. It is now done, with this desire to extend Ambilight beyond the outline of your television. Thus, Ambilight technology is coupled with the Hue lighting system to offer you a unique concert of light that reflects the colors and movements broadcast on your Ambilight television.

Once the Ambiligh + hue app has been downloaded, you just have to check that your mobile device, your TV and your Hue bridge are well connected to the same Wi-Fi network and turn on the light!
