Sonic – The Movie: Jim Carrey sees similarities between Dr. Robotnik and Batman’s Riddler
It’s been a while since viewers have seen Jim Carrey playing a comic character. In recent years the actor has performed in big shows with projects like Kidding and The Bad Batch, but without impersonating his classic roles. This, however, will change next month with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog, in which Carrey plays the villain Dr. Ivo Robotnik and will then have another chance to give life to an extravagant villain.
Robotnik is the classic villain whose brilliant plans are always thwarted by his nemesis, in this case Sonic. Looking at Robotnik it’s easy to remember the Riddler, the classic Batman villain that Carrey played in 1995 in Batman Forever.
Both Riddler and Robotnik are flashy villains with a penchant for elaborate storylines, and fans will have no problem comparing the two. In fact, Carrey also sees a lot of similarities in characters, as the actor himself stated when speaking to ComicBook.com.
“They’re both spinning in the tree of knowledge. They jump from branch to branch and fall from time to time,” Carrey explained. “I wouldn’t pit them against each other. I think together they would make a great team. But you know, Robotnik, like all super villains, come from places of neglect with a feeling of worthlessness that manifests itself in magnificent creations designed to control. the world, they want to put their mark on everyone and maybe get into the bloodstream with some nanotechnology from time to time. “
