Sony in Berlin officially presented two new flagship models, which we wrote about some time ago. At the fair we could see Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. Here’s what you need to know about the new Japanese devices.
Sony Xperia XZ1
At first glance, it may seem that the Xperia XZ1 looks identical to the company’s previous models. However, in the official press materials, we can see that the device was made of a single, bent piece of metal. The Xperia XZ1 also meets the IP65 and IP68 standards. The front panel was also reinforced with Gorilla Glass 5. There was also a fingerprint reader, which was located on the right edge of the device.
The device is equipped with a 5.2-inch display with Full HD resolution. The matrix was made in IPS technology, also known as Triluminos. Its heart is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with the Adreno 540 graphics chip, supported by 4 GB of RAM. There is 64 GB of built-in memory for user data, which of course can be expanded using a microSD card with a maximum capacity of 256 GB. The Xperia XZ1 features a 19 Mpx Sony IMX400 sensor with the Motion Eye system and DRAM memory. With this model, we can also record slow-motion video at 960 frames per second. The whole is complemented by a 2700 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging function. The smartphone runs on the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
Sony has also created a proprietary algorithm. We are talking about the 3D Creator, thanks to which you can record high-quality 3D scans. There are 4 scanning modes available to the user: head, face, food and any object. You can also send a scan to a 3D printer.
Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact
In the case of this model, we get an almost identical specification, except that it has been closed in a much smaller housing. The Xperia XZ1 Compact offers a 4.6-inch display with HD resolution. The camera, processor and the amount of operational memory have not changed. The smaller model boasts an 8 Mpx front camera with a viewing angle of 120 degrees. An important change compared to the larger model is the amount of built-in memory. Xperia XZ1 Compact has been equipped with only 32 GB.
