Despite feeling that the interest of more companies in the industry will be beneficial for everyone, Sony feels that it will have to reinforce its focus on quality and content, something that it considers vital.
In an interview with the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, via Gematsu, Jim Ryan said that Sony Interactive Entertainment is evaluating and considering the purchase of studios and companies that can add valuable content to PlayStation.
“Content is becoming more important than ever,” says Ryan of the arrival of new companies and technologies in the video game industry.
The president and CEO of SIE recalls that Sony has 13 studios around the world and that over 25 years it has acquired rich experience in this industry, together with high quality properties.
PlayStation 4 sales are over 94 million units and the brand enjoys great popularity, but they do not want to stand still and will continue to bet on highly attractive content.
With that in mind, SIE may announce the acquisition of new studios and companies to present exclusive content on PlayStation platforms.
