STALKER 2 announced for release in 2021.

Grab your Geiger counter and bullet belt, because in 2021 we will go back to Chernobyl and surroundings! In addition to the STALKER 2 announcement, in this Watch: Cliff Bleszinski shows failed game ideas, info about Squeenix ‘and People Can Fly’s upcoming project and more. Good morning!

STALKER 2 will drop in 2021, according to developer GSC Game World

It will take eleven years, but then (hopefully) you have something to write home about: STALKER 2 is coming! The Guard had already lost hope for a new part in this bizarre post-Chernobyl disaster world, but tonight the word is out. It is not a particularly exciting announcement, via Facebook Sergiy Grygorovych from developer GSC Game World comes with a link to the official website of the game. Unfortunately, there is little to see there, only the title ‘STALKER 2’ followed by ‘’, Which means that the sequel to the Ukrainian-made shooter RPG should be released in three years. Whether the franchise is coming to consoles for the first time remains to be seen.

STALKER 2 announced for release in 2021

STALKER 2 will be the fourth game in the series by the way. The Guard still remembers how the first mutant in STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl made him stop a game for the first (and last) out of fear, but that was already eleven years ago. Since then, the prequel STALKER: Clear Sky was released in 2008, followed by sequel STALKER: Call of Pripyat in 2010. Eleven years later, STALKER 2 is on the schedule, after a sequel of the same name was canceled in 2010 (and the developer seemed to be ending ). In 2014 GSC Game World came back with the game Cossacks 3, now it is time for STALKER 2. But whether that ‘2’ is here to stay and a hip subtitle is not made up after all… It doesn’t matter. More STALKER, more BETTER

Xbox One cover No Man’s Sky possibly leaked, finally ‘co-op’?

Hello Games is still improving the game that failed to live up to its sky-high expectations. And to expand, for example with a version for the Xbox One that comes with a major update for everyone. What that update entails is still a mystery, but if we can believe the possibly leaked box art from No Man’s Sky, it is about co-op. There was no multiplayer after the release; as big as the universe, the chance is still 0% that you will meet someone else. That could change, possibly with parties of 4 people as shown. Or this is all hopelessness. At least, does anyone see waiting for this?

STALKER 2 announced for release in 2021

Xbox or Hello Games is unlikely to give a definitive answer anytime soon. In any case, the big update, entitled NEXT, is planned for this summer. “The biggest update to date”.

Cliff Bleszinski shares concept art for three game projects

No, after the announcement that Cliff Bleszinski’s Boss Key Productions is closing its doors, the best man does not suddenly reveal all kinds of new games. But with the game designer it took it upon himself to share three interesting game concepts. He immediately adds some concept art – because yes, why not? Starting with code-named ‘DragonFlies’, which according to the series of Tweets was supposed to be a special mix of ninjas, dragons, zombies, flying islands and co-op PvE battles.

Here’s one of the games I wanted to do codenamed “DragonFlies.”

Basically you were ninja / samurai in airships riding dragons fighting zombies with friends in a PVE “feudalpunk” setting on floating islands. (the airships = your “aircraft carriers”, the dragons = your “planes”)

More art. You used melee and guns and could outfit your beasts for combat. Basically do for dragon riding what Halo did for vehicles.

Player characters.

Oh and yes, you’d find dragon eggs, hatch them, and raise them.

Side note $ 40m budget. So not cheap.

The second game is a lot less impressive, but what do you expect from a goofy VR project. The idea was a spiritual successor to the game Toobin ‘, but with animals and in VR. A little bit of cheerfulness in between!

Here’s the silly / fun one – basically a VR spiritual sequel to Toobin, only everyone are animals – and a way to fight Seasonal Affection Disorder. (Mario Kart on water with animals in VR.)

Called “Donuts.”

More art.

Finally, another game that was originally planned for VR. Code-named ‘Rover’, but probably would have been called ‘DogWalkers’, this 5 vs 5 vs 5 vs 5 vs 5 battlefield for animal-like machines. Zoids, yes.

Here’s another one, initially planned for VR, codenamed “Rover” but was shaping up to be “DogWalkers” – DOG stood for Destructive Ordnance (on the) Ground.

Inspired by WW2 tank crews / battles / the movie Fury. 5v 5v 5v 5v 5 Zoid looking walkers fighting it out in MP.

Although it sounds like music to the Guard to ride a dragon with a ninja (although he lacks pirates and a battle royale mode !!! 1!), That concept art also looks gruesome, and even the VR titles seem fun, it doesn’t seem like these games will ever see the light of day. Cliff will focus on his family in the near future and there is no one to run with the ideas, Boss Key is gone. But never say never, especially after all the positive reactions to NinjaDraak.

Nintendo Switch is getting a Taiko: Drum Master controller in Japan

In Japan they can go wild again on a new piece of plastic, and we are left without drum and stick. The launch of the game Drum Master is accompanied by a Taiko drum kit, especially for the Switch. De Wacht has never felt the need to play such a drum game – mainly because of these kinds of beasts – but now that he cannot get the controller without importing the already 58 euro piece of plastic (excluding drinking water bottles), it starts to itch. Sigh, then on with Far Cry 5 tonight …

Rainbow Six Siege adds first Italian operator in Operation Para Bellum

On May 20, Ubisoft will reveal what Operation Para Bellum, the upcoming expansion to Rainbow Six Siege, is all about, and in the meantime, the developer will drop a little hint or reveal every now and then. This is also the case last night, with a real teaser for Alibi, the first Italian Operator. There is also another Operator, an Italian map and a ‘Pick & Ban’ system for Operators of the counterparty on the agenda. And even more so, but you have to sleep four more nights for that.

PC players Divinity: Original Sin II will get a free upgrade to Definitive Edition in August

If you are still staring at the ‘mediocre’ graphics of your PC version of Divinity: Original Sin 2, then the Guard has good news for you. You just get the Definitive Edition for free if you have the PC version at home, according to developer Larian Studios (via Facebook), and that is of course always nice. The developer reports this in response to a fan who, like the rest of the gaming world, wants to get their hands on the final version of the RPG, with a list of changes of “more than 45 pages”. Not already, of course, the console version of Divinity: Original Sin II, also called the Definitive Edition, is scheduled for August of this year. On Xbox One, you can check an early version of the game from today via Xbox Game Preview.

Square Enix and People Can Fly collaborate on ‘AAA Shooter’

A triple A shooter, that’s what we can expect from the collaboration between Squeenix and People Can Fly announced last year. It’s no big surprise that PCF, the developer of Painkiller, Bulletstorm and some Gears of War and Fortnite ports are back on a shooter, but confirmation is always welcome. The news follows from one sentence of a press release, which also coolly states that the Polish developer is also opening two new studios; one in Poland, the other in the UK. There are reportedly 150 people on the new game, which emphasizes that we are dealing with a triple A game (via pcgamer). We will see later whether it will bear fruit. Hopefully at E3, but that’s probably too early.

And remember: butt antlers. Good day!
