Star Wars Battlefront 2 – this is how character classes work.

The game’s producer revealed a few things about the guiding principles along which character classes were designed and how that changes the game.

Yesterday, Star Wars Battlefront 2 finally showed itself in action, at least in multiplayer mode. Now the game’s lead producer, Matt Webster, spoke in an interview about one of the most important innovations in online mode, the introduction of character classes.

After all, in the first part, many people lacked the class system, which greatly contributed to the players feeling superficial about the game. In the second part you can choose from four classes: the assault trooper will match the characters of the first game, the heavy trooper will bring the heavy weapon into the matches, the specialist will be good to use mainly over long distances, while the officer will play the support role.

In addition, it is also important that the equipment of the classes will not be permanent, but each class will have three basic abilities, which can then be continuously expanded with the help of Star Cards (and these cards can be obtained from openable crates). Also, an interesting twist is that we can vary not only the basic classes:

“Players can customize each character. Everyone has three basic abilities that you can expand, plus you can change not only the ability itself, but also how heavenly it is, based on the Star Cards. Your Darth Maulod might be different than mine.”

Otherwise, heroes, ships, and more can no longer be reached in the form of tokens, but can be purchased with points for completing missions. There was also a huge amount of dust stirring during the first part due to the lack of targeting opportunities, thankfully the DICE team made up for that as well. Webster said their goal was to bring more depth into the shooting, but at the same time it was important for them to stay approachable:

“I think it’s an important aspect of the shooter Star Wars game to be learnable for everyone. However, accessibility doesn’t mean lack of depth and that’s what DICE has managed to solve. and they heat up, but it’s still harder to play. “
