In today’s broadcast “Resident Evil™ Showcase”, Capcom has shown new sequences and updated data from Resident Evil™Village Gold Edition and its expansionWinter’splus plenty of gory details for the revenant Resident Evil 4. The event also explored new ways to experience the iconic survival horror series, including PlayStationVR2 and Mac versions of Resident Evil Villageand the cloud versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil™7 biohazard and Resident Evil Villageon Nintendo Switch.
The team of Resident Evil Village offered a look at both Shadows of Rose, the nightmarish new chapter of content Winters’ Expansion and the long-awaited third-person mode. The Expansion winters and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, a bundle containing the downloadable content and the main game, will be released on October 28, 2022 for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and on PC via Steam. Players who pre-order the game now will receive a special bonus Stray Wolf outfit for heroine Rose Winters to wear as she explores a mysterious realm of consciousness in search of a cure for her unwanted powers. Before the Expansion Winters and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, users will have the opportunity to experience the award-winning campaign from a new perspective. A 60-minute demo featuring the expansion’s third-person mode is now available.
Resident Evil*_Re:verse_, the free multiplayer experience for all *Resident Evil Village users, will continue the festivities with an early access event starting on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 04:00 AM and running through Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 08:00 AM. The full game will be released on October 28, 2022 and will support cross-play on all platforms. Also, Resident Evil Re:Verse You will receive more content in future updates, such as additional survivors, creatures, stages, costumes, and challenge missions. To enjoy the game, players must sign up for a Capcom ID and link their account on the platform of their choice.
Also announced is the Mac version of Resident Evil Village scheduled for release on October 28, 2022, landing alongside the recently revealed Resident Evil™ Village Cloud for Nintendo Switch. The Winters Expansion comes to Resident Evil Village Cloud on December 2, 2022. The release dates for the upcoming releases for Nintendo Switch, Resident Evil™ 2 Cloud (November 11, 2022), Resident Evil™ 3 Cloud (November 18, 2022) and Resident Evil™ 7 biohazard Cloud (December 16, 2022) was also revealed during last night’s event.
Yoshiaki Hirabayashiproducer of Resident Evil 4, has delivered the first wide-eyed look at the long-awaited title with an extended gameplay segment from the first few minutes of the adventure, plus a new story trailer foreshadowing the surprises in store for new players and long-time fans alike. Footage of Leon S. Kennedy’s harrowing first encounter with the Ganados highlights how the development team is introducing modern design techniques and state-of-the-art graphics to faithfully recreate and add depth to the vision of the original game. This first look at combat showed just a few of the new ways the Ganados attack, chase, and flank Leon with amazing speed and ferocity. To walk the fine line between survival and a grim fate, Leon’s arsenal of weapons and melee maneuvers now include the ability to parry enemy attacks and land final blows with his knife.
Hirabayashi-san also offered a first look at how Resident Evil 4 is recreating fan-favorite characters and gameplay mechanics, with an emphasis on providing more meaningful choice to the player. The Merchant makes his triumphant return with some good gear to sell to Leon, including useful items and weapon upgrades. He also offers more exclusive rewards for strangers who are willing to collect rare gems and exchange them for other items. Viewers also got their first look at Leon’s trusty briefcase, which emphasizes smart resource management and allows players to synthesize healing items and ammo. More examples of how the team at Resident Evil 4 is passionately reviving a classic using Capcom’s RE Engine to preserve the core experience while introducing modern ideas.
In addition to announcing that advance bookings for Resident Evil 4 are now available today, the Resident Evil Showcase event also revealed the editions that will be available a “Deluxe Edition” and a “Collector’s Edition” when the game launches for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S and PC format via Steam on March 24, 2023. The “Deluxe Edition” includes additional in-game content such as outfits, weapons, a treasure map, and more. For its part, the “Collector’s Edition” in physical format includes all the contents of the Deluxe version, as well as a figure of Leon, a physical map, an art book and much more. Those who pre-order the Standard Edition will receive in-game rewards such as the “Attaché Case: Gold” and the “Special Charm: Pistol Ammo”, while pre-orders of the Deluxe or Collector Editions also include the “Attaché Case: Classic” and the “Special Amulet: Green Grass”. These customization items offer specific in-game abilities when equipped.
