Super Bomberman R Online is free for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One

Konami announced that it will release Super Bomberman R Online digitally in 2021 for PC (Steam), PS4, Switch and Xbox One, and it will also be possible to play on PS5 and Xbox Series via backwards compatibility.

It will be a free-to-play title (free but with microtransactions) with cross-play support across all platforms. More details on when the launch will take place will be released soon.

Super Bomberman R Online was originally released for Stadia in September 2020, bringing back the charismatic characters in a battle royale mode with support for up to 64 players.

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced today that SUPER BOMBERMAN R ONLINE will soon be available for PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Nintendo SwitchTM and PC via Steam as an exclusive free* digital download. The game will also be playable on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X/S. Previously released on Stadia, SUPER BOMBERMAN R ONLINE builds on the popularity of Super Bomberman R and rescues the 8 Bomber Brothers, among others, in a 64-player online battle royale.

While Bomberman returns with the gameplay mechanics that made the franchise a classic – blasting through battlefields, hunting down hidden powers that are used to blow up enemies – the action in SUPER BOMBERMAN R ONLINE reaches unprecedented heights with the “Battle 64”. Offering the ultimate battle royale experience, up to 64 players are spread across 16 starting battlegrounds. As the stages are overcome and the number of players decreases, the number of battlefields also decreases, until the last and decisive battle, to see who will be the last bomber standing.

SUPER BOMBERMAN R ONLINE features over 100 combinations of customizable assets, including multiple outfits, accessories and, for the first time, bomb coatings, which influence appearance and explosion. Players can further differentiate themselves from other participants with the optional Premium Pack (SRP $9.99 USD), which gives access to 14 additional Bomber characters that pay homage to classic KONAMI IPs, like Gradius, Silent Hill, Castlevania and more!

While any user in the world can join a “Battle 64” room, the Premium package allows players to create their own private match, with rules including “Battle 64”, “Standard” modes with up to 16 players or “Grand Prix ”. The “Grand Prix” divides players into two teams of up to 3×3 to compete. The team that has the highest score after two rounds of battle is declared the winner.
