Tales of Arise releases September 10, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and pc. The game is the latest installment in the Tales of series, which has been building a legacy for over 25 years and is the next evolution for the JRPG franchise. Players who purchase the game on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to PlayStation 5 for free. For Xbox players Tales of Arise a Cross-Generation Double Pack that includes both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S version includes.*
Players will be immersed in the story of Rena, the star who has ruled the planet Dahna with an iron fist for the past 300 years. Renans have depleted Dahna of its natural resources, enslaving most of the planet’s population in the process. Following the struggle to free the Dahnans from their fate, this story is experienced through the eyes of Alphen, an iron-masked Dahnan who fights to free his people, and Shionne, a girl from Rena on the run from her compatriots. They are joined on their journey by various characters, such as Rinwell and Law, who help them in their fight for freedom.
Tales of Arise carries the DNA of the franchise and pushes the boundaries using the “Atmospheric Shader” developed by BANDAI NAMCO Studios that adds a new tint to the graphics, making them look as if they were hand drawn. This will enhance players’ immersion, along with a vibrant new world where they explore numerous biomes. Combat has also evolved by adding more direct effects and attacks to give a better sense of spectacle and more direct feedback from players based on their actions.

Tales of Arise is now available for physical and digital pre-order on all platforms. Pre-orders will receive a new costume for Alphen and Shionne, as well as outfit accessories, new cooking recipes and ingredients. A Deluxe and an Ultimate Edition are available on digital platforms. The Deluxe Edition has the following items:
- Premium Item Pack with gold, cooking items and boosts
- Premium Costume Pack, including eight full costumes and six accessories
- Premium Travel Pack, for better cooking and crafting skills and discounts in the shops
The Ultimate Edition includes all the contents of the Deluxe Edition as well as new costumes for the characters, including special costumes in collaboration with other BANDAI NAMCO games. More information about these editions can be found in the BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe Store.
A physical Collector’s Edition will be available that includes the same content as the Ultimate Edition, along with an exclusive figurine, steelbook, artbook, and the game’s soundtrack. This edition is available for purchase at participating retailers and here.
A special Hootle Edition is available exclusively and in limited quantities at the BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe Store. In addition to the game, this edition includes a steelbook, an artbook, the soundtrack, a 6-inch Hootle plush toy with four accessories, Hootle DLC for the game, as well as stickers and three art prints.
*Players who own the physical PlayStation 4 edition of Tales of Arise purchase cannot upgrade if they have the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition hardware.
