Nightwolf is a warrior of the Matoka tribe — that is, he is a pure blood of the Native American peoples. Within MK, he uses his magic power to protect the Earthrealm.
His abilities are quite impressive: he can energize himself and rely on the support of nature, such as ghost wolves and lightning that strike enemies. To top it off, Nightwolf is a Sin Eater: he absorbs evil energies without being affected. For all that, he’s quite a fighter.

The Queen of Edenia is very difficult to fight. Its main combat strategy is its ultrasonic screams that carry the opponent to the other side of the arena, giving little chance to protect itself. In addition, these shrill screams do a lot of damage: they can paralyze and even skin the enemy.
Sindel’s deadly attack also comes from his hair, which is used as a kind of noose that imprisons rivals. To top it off, she is able to levitate! Not by chance, Shao Kahn recognizes her as his queen and Shang Tsung did everything to resurrect her in Mortal Kombat 11.
A good fighter is also a root fighter. Goro already appeared in the first game, the 1992 classic, and even so many years later, he hasn’t left the list of Mortal Kombat’s toughest combatants. He is capable of defeating any human with a few blows from his powerful arms.
Among its powers is to launch fireballs towards the enemy. In the MK story, his strength is explained by his being the prince of the Shokan, creatures that are half human, half dragon. For that reason, Goro has four arms and a height much greater than an average human being, which makes him pretty scary for anyone.
Motaro appeared in Mortal Kombat III for the first time and is a centaur (that mythological animal that is half man, half horse). With almost 3 meters tall, the character is quite menacing, and has already caused a lot of headache for players who dared to face him.
In addition to a horse’s hindquarters, Motaro has horns that appear to be a goat’s and a gigantic rat’s tail that is used as a third lower limb, like a third leg, making it quite challenging to run away from.
Onaga, the Dragon King, is one of the stars of Mortal Kombat: Deception. As the former Emperor of Outworld before Shao Kahn, he is a fighter who deserves respect. So threatening, Kahn decided to poison him and then take his place.
With the ability to resurrect the dead, Onaga is quite a threat and has an army at his disposal. To defeat him, it takes a lot of technique to always keep him at a distance to counterattack, dodging his deadly blows.
Shinnok, an elder god, is the final boss in Mortal Kombat X. With the terrifying appearance of a demon, it’s pretty hard not to be scared when he appears in the game. His attacks are two-fold: Shinnok charges at whoever fights him using both magic and brute force.
What’s more, he holds command over illusions, stealing souls, and mimicking the power of his enemies. Raiden’s great rival is certainly a tough match for even the most experienced fighters.
Kronika is, pardon the pun, a powerful boss. She is an extremely powerful entity and capable of rearranging time. Her debut in the franchise was in Mortal Kombat 11 and she sets up as the final barrier in Ultimate.
It’s very difficult to fight her — even more so because the character is able to suck energy from enemies and transform into other combatants. Only with a lot of attention and patience is it possible to overcome it.
8. Shao Kahn
Shao Kahn, the Emperor of Outworld, manages to impose himself among all the other fighters. He is potent in both the use of hand-to-hand fighting and magic. His first appearance in the game was as the final boss in Mortal Kombat II and Mortal Kombat III.
Being an old fashioned fighter doesn’t mean you can belittle your strength, on the contrary. His green energy is capable of dismantling any blow an opponent is trying to land on him. In other words, it takes a very good strategy to finally beat him.
9. Quan Chi
Quan Chi is seen as the most powerful sorcerer among all combatants — and there are plenty of them in Mortal Kombat. He is a very faithful servant of Shinnok and has abilities that confuse his enemies.
The character manages to reanimate the dead, make copies of himself and steal some unsuspecting souls. Of course, this is just a summary of his characteristics, after all, Quan Chi has many more tricks up his sleeve that make him one of the most feared fighters in this franchise that we love.
10. Shang Tsung

Shang Tsung is practically a legend within Mortal Kombat. He appears in the first game, from 1992 — he was the last boss. However, because of his excessive ambition, he was condemned by the gods to suffer from premature aging.
In order to stay young and alive, Shang Tsung began to absorb the souls of his enemies — and, on top of that, to gain their skills and be able to transmute himself into the image of these people. Factors such as these elevated him to the position of characters difficult to overcome.
Armed with the power of the fire element, he is able to fire skull-shaped projectiles that hit his enemies squarely. For all that, it is necessary to prepare well before approaching this dangerous evil warrior.
