The actors of a nostalgic blockbuster bought by Netflix reveal the secrets of the fight scene.
The original Karate Kid series is one of the most iconic when it comes to youth cinema. The story of Daniel LaRusso, who learns the secrets of martial arts under the supervision of Mr. Miyagi, has been stimulating the imagination of viewers for over 35 years. Fans of this brand will surely know that in 2018 its official continuation – the series – debuted on the YouTube Premium platform. Cobra Kai.
In a nutshell, the mentioned production tells the story of Johnny Lawrence (played by William Zabka), the antagonist from the first part, who decides to reopen the title Cobra Kai, i.e. a school where he used to learn martial arts. By the way, he meets his former rival again – the aforementioned Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who after the events of the Karate Kid series became a successful car dealer. The series, due to, among other things, an interesting script, nice characters and a huge dose of nostalgia, met with a very warm reception both from the industry media and the viewers themselves. It has already had two seasons, and on January 8 it will receive the third, already produced for Netflix, which took over the rights to the title. To keep the interest in Cobra Kai, this platform releases interesting material related to him on YouTube. Some time ago, she published a film, during which young actors appearing in the series reveal the backstage of the great fight with the so far last episode. You can watch it below.
Watch out for spoilers from the second season of Cobra Kai.

For the record, a great fight that we can admire in the 10th episode of the first season of Cobra Kai, was held at West Valley High between students from two hostile dojos – Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do. Its flash point was the conflict between Samantha LaRusso, Daniel’s daughter, and Tora Nichols. The crew had only four days to shoot the entire sequence (not including preparation). One of its focal points is the so-called “Long take”, ie one shot without any cuts, showing the duels of Sam and Tora and Miguel and Robby taking place in the corridor. Its shooting required proper planning of camera movements and coordination of actors and stuntmen, who had to change places in the frame smoothly all the time.
Although some of the most dangerous acrobatics, such as Miguel’s final fall down the stairs, were performed by specialists, it does not mean that the actors were not exposed to injuries in any way. Samantha’s role-playing character Mary Mouser mentions that she suffered a hand injury while blocking one of the kicks, which puts her in the ER. This delayed the work on the set a bit.

How did you like the fight from the final episode of the second season of Cobra Kai?
It cannot be denied that the dedication of the actors and the entire film crew behind the shooting of the described scene can make an impression. Will similar sequences be in the third season Cobra Kai? We will find out about it in three months.
