UPDATE 07/03/2019: CD Projekt has issued a statement following the news published by the Polish newspaper Bankier in which it assured that the studio had several Cyberpunk games in development.
A representative of the study has wanted to clarify the news talking to GameSpot and apparently everything has been a translation error.
It’s not that the studio is working on multiple Cyberpunk projects, but rather that it has three studios focused on 2077.
“We currently have a total of five teams working on different projects, and three of them are focused on the development of Cyberpunk 2077,” said a company representative. “They are the CD Projekt Red Warsar studio and Kraków, which are with the main game, as well as the Wrocław studio, where about 40 specialists are immersed in R&D technology. Then a separate team in the Warsaw studio is taking over. from Gwent development. The final team is in Spokko, who is currently working on an unannounced mobile game. “
ORIGINAL NEWS: Adam Kiciński, CEO and President of CD Projekt, has given more information about the company’s future projects in an interview with the Polish newspaper Bankier.
The company’s latest fiscal results indicated that CD Projekt was working on Gwent, on Cyberpunk 2077 (which the CEO says is having very good booking numbers) and on another AAA title that would arrive before the end of 2021.
This last title will not be The Witcher 4 or a new IP, but another game set in the Cyberpunk universe, as confirmed by Kiciński himself: “we are already working on it and we consider it an innovative and important project.”
Without leaving Cyberpunk 2077, there is currently a team of “about 40 people” dedicated to creating the online mode for the game, announced in 2013. We know that it will not come out, as confirmed again a month ago to our colleagues in England.
Cyberpunk 2077 is due out on April 16, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
