Fortnite is the most fashionable Battle Royale game right now among users of this type of game. So much so that even Valve, the developer of CS:GO, probably the oldest multiplayer game on the net, has been forced to create its own Battle Royale mode, called Danger Zone. In this article we will see what components we will need to create a cheap computer that allows us to play Fortnite with a high level of detail and high FPS.
The big advantage that Fortnite has over AAA games is that, when played online, its recommended requirements are not high at all. These are:

Designing a computer for Fortnite
Since the processor does not have to be particularly powerful (a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 is a fairly low processor as of today), we can opt for an Intel Core i3-8100 that also has 4 cores, but its frequency Turbo goes up to 3.6 GHz. This processor would cost you 149.95 euros. Which is a price that is quite far from the 100 euros that this processor originally cost, but we are already well aware of the supply problems of Intel and its 14 nm node.
If, on the other hand, we prefer to buy an AMD processor, for the same money from the Intel processor we can buy an AMD Ryzen 5 1600X, with six cores and twelve threads, which leaves it far behind in terms of gaming performance. In games and in any activity, if we are honest.
Although if you want to save a little more, you can always opt for the AMD Ryzen 5 1500X which, for only 129.99 euros, will give you four cores and eight threads.
As for the heatsink, in the case of AMD processors, the OEM model that is included with them is more than enough to be able to cool these processors without problems. On the contrary, for the Intel processor it is essential to install a half-decent heatsink. You can opt for the Nox Hummer H212 that, for only 21 euros, will be able to keep your processor very cool.
For Intel motherboards, we believe that the ASRock B360M-HDV is a cheap model but it has everything you need to get the most out of the processor, even having an M.2 slot to which you can connect solid NVMe storage units. or SATA. This ASRock motherboard costs 78.30 euros.
For a similar price, and without leaving the manufacturer, we have the ASRock AB350M-HDV motherboard. This model is also a very compact one. And, by using the B450 chipset, you can slightly overclock the processor (don’t forget that all AMD Ryzen processors come with the multipliers unlocked). Its price is 73.45 euros.
For RAM, we will use a single recommendation for both types of equipment, both for Intel and AMD. This is the 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 MHz kit that costs 159.99 euros, although it is easy to see it on sale. Of course, keep in mind that the Intel processor and motherboard will not allow you to set the RAM frequency above 2666 MHz.
As a graphics card we wanted to put an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti on it, although in theory it would work perfectly with the GTX 1050. But it is also true that we hope that the computer is not used only to play Fortnite, but many other games and, For most current titles, having at least 4 GB of VRAM is a real must if you don’t want to experience slowdowns while playing. In any case, this graphic is capable of moving the high mode to 60 and 70 FPS without any difficulty. So we have opted for the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti D5 for 173.90 euros.
For storage, and since SSDs are now really cheap, we have chosen to include a Kingston A400 with a capacity of 240 GB which, for only 38.19 euros, we do not believe is an excuse for not putting one of these.
If you think that the 240 GB Kingston SSD could be too small for you, you can always add a 1 TB Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM010 hard drive for 45.29 euros, which is a very reasonable price.
As a power source, this system is not going to require a very powerful model. And an excellent option is the Corsair VS450, which has more than enough power to drive both systems and also comes with 80Plus certification.
Finally, for the box of the equipment that we are designing to play Fortnite, we have opted for the Cooler Master Force 500, which is a fairly large box for a micro ATX model and that has a price of 41.49 euros, although it is frequent see it on offer.
