In Andorra, the maximum income tax to pay is 10% even if you enter much more than 40,000 euros per year (it is estimated that the income of these youtubers multiplies that figure). In Spain, if you earn more than 300,000 euros, you pay the state 47% of your income, a considerable difference that makes many of these influencers decide to evade taxes by changing their residence.
This is not new: other personalities such as actors, singers or athletes also move to Andorra or other tax havens such as Switzerland to protect their fortunes. Although few of these personalities they have a power of influence on young people as strong as these youtubers, who generally find little negative repercussion among their followers. What’s more, most of them seem to position themselves in favor of whatever they do.
However, moving to Andorra means, first, showing that you have spent most of the year on its soil. And even if they meet the requirement, youtubers are faced with another challenge, as our Business Insider colleagues explain: if a person has a permanent home in both states (which is common in a country within hours of driving from your relatives and Spanish friends), the agreement between Andorra and Spain establishes that it will be considered a resident “of the country in which it has the most personal and economic ties”.
