The controversy about youtubers who go to Andorra to pay less taxes intensifies on social networks.
The debate about youtubers who go to Andorra to pay less taxes, led by Rubius, continues to set fire to social networks, and many of his colleagues position themselves in favor or against.
The news that the Rubius, one of the best-known youtubers and influencers in Spain, moved his residence to Andorra to pay less taxes, he has been setting social networks on fire for two days, with no signs that it will stop. The debate among his followers continues, fueled by other public voices that speak for or against the decision of the youtuber, the last to go to the neighboring country after a long list such as TheGrefg, LOLiTO FDEZ, aLexBY11 or Willyrex.
Ruben Doblas, the real name of the youtuber, defended his position in a broadcast on Twitch, first explaining that he was leaving because his mother and sister have returned to Norway and most of his friends have left Madrid, to later answer yes, that the IRPF in Andorra is 10% instead of 47% is a plus . “I have literally 10 years of my career in Youtubue, paying here. I know that there will be people who criticize me, but people often speak without knowing”.

Last summer, Rubius was already complaining about being “the only fool who has stayed in Spain paying my taxes”, and for that “Hacienda has me in the spotlight, always trying to me. He even joked: “Every time you step on a road in Spain, think: this has been paid by Rubius and Alexelcapo. I’m already happy with that.”

Ibai, Alexelcapo or Vegetta position themselves
Ibai Llanos, Along with Rubius, the most popular influencer in Spain, he has avoided entering the discussion on this occasion, although a 2018 clip went viral in which he was shown against the decision of many youtubers to go to Andorra.

“It is normal that people who earn a lot of money or who are rich take a lot of money, and perhaps more should be taken away, and less should be taken from those who earn 2,000 or 1,500 euros or less.” “I live as a mother, I do not care if they take half from me because I live to spare.”
Alexelcapo He also asked youtubers and streamers to think twice about the decision to go to Andorra to pay less taxes: “It’s easy to think that if you earn a lot you would leave, but you really know, and I mean my colleagues, that we earn a lot more than necessary. Maybe it’s time to be responsible to others. “

To the streamers and youtubers that you follow in Spain and are thinking of going to Andorra … Think about it again, give it a couple of laps. Yes, you will earn more money, but if you are in the position that leaving is profitable for you, you have plenty to live on. I thought so too years ago.

However, another of the most popular youtubers, Vegetta777, has defended Rubén, sharing another video of the youtuber Wall Street Wolverine.

I don’t usually get into these topics but I think @wallstwolverine explains how things are.
I see so much youtuber and moralistic streamer that if I said what I know about some of them they would hang their heads instead of trying to make them look like new messiahs. https://t.co/OAkGM2un3O

More irreverent was Xokas, a streamer recently viralized for his comments about “this is not a game,” which made fun of the matter: “They charge me 10,000 bucks every quarter, I sweat it, I pay it for Spain, representing the neighborhood. ‘Ah, but the politicians steal from us.’ Yes, it’s better to go to Andorra, you son of a , and not contribute anything. When your mother goes to the hospital, I’ll pay for it. “

However, a day later he changed third and defended Rubius directly. “If it had been 10 years being destroyed by the Treasury, maybe I would also leave, it would not be so strange. He has done more than any of us.”
The debate has continued on social networks and even in general media such as television, opening an ethical debate in which there are two irreconcilable ideological positions. Is it unsupportive on the part of youtubers or businessmen in general who earn a lot of money -much more than they really need to live with dignity- to pay taxes in another country (and therefore, stop contributing to the Spanish public coffers that finance the infrastructures, education or health that they have made use of until now)?

In Andorra, the maximum income tax to pay is 10% even if you enter much more than 40,000 euros per year (it is estimated that the income of these youtubers multiplies that figure). In Spain, if you earn more than 300,000 euros, you pay the state 47% of your income, a considerable difference that makes many of these influencers decide to evade taxes by changing their residence.
This is not new: other personalities such as actors, singers or athletes also move to Andorra or other tax havens such as Switzerland to protect their fortunes. Although few of these personalities they have a power of influence on young people as strong as these youtubers, who generally find little negative repercussion among their followers. What’s more, most of them seem to position themselves in favor of whatever they do.
However, moving to Andorra means, first, showing that you have spent most of the year on its soil. And even if they meet the requirement, youtubers are faced with another challenge, as our Business Insider colleagues explain: if a person has a permanent home in both states (which is common in a country within hours of driving from your relatives and Spanish friends), the agreement between Andorra and Spain establishes that it will be considered a resident “of the country in which it has the most personal and economic ties”.
