The creator of the Spider-Man trilogy is officially the director of Doctor Strange 2.
IN BRIEF
The February Variety reports have been confirmed. IN conversation with Coming Soon Sam Raimi has officially confirmed that he will direct the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We remind you that he replaced Scott Derrickson in this position, the creator of the previous part of the adventures of the popular magician from the comic book and film universe of Marvel, who gave up the possibility of preparing the sequel due to creative differences..
The sequel to Doctor Strange officially already has a new director.

Despite the slight clash of visions, Derrickson does not seem to hold a grudge against anyone. On the contrary, still in February enjoyed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness it could fall into the hands of such a “living legend” as Sam Raimi. He upheld this sentence after the official announcement of the engagement of the creator of the iconic Evil Dead.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be Raimi’s first new feature film in seven years, and a return to cinematic comic book films after a thirteen-year hiatus. It should not be forgotten that he is the creator of the extremely popular Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguir in the title role. Interestingly, in its second part there is a small scene, which in these circumstances takes on a symbolic rank. Well, at one point, J. Jonah Jameson, editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, and his assistant Hoffman are trying to come up with a nickname for the new villain in town – Dr. Otto Octavius. At one point, the proposal “Doctor Strange” is made, but it is quickly rejected as the alias “is already taken”.

Here’s what Raimi himself said about the scene in question and his approach to the character of the superhero mage in an interview with Coming Soon.
I loved Dr. Strange when I was a kid, but he was always behind Spider-Man and Batman, and was probably fifth on my list of favorite comic book characters. He’s a very original character, when we put this point in Spider-Man 2, I had no idea I’d ever make a Doctor Strange movie, so it’s really funny to me that this line of text ended up in production quite accidentally. Honestly, I’d like to know then how things will turn out.

IN Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Benedict Cumberbatch will be starring again. He will be partnered by Elizabeth Olsen. Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejiofor, known from the previous part, will also most likely return in the film. So far, we do not know the details about the plot of the production, but it is supposed to refer to the Loki series and WandaVision. The story is supposed to contain some elements of horror, but not be entirely serious, in which Raimi’s experience, for example from the already mentioned Evil Dead, should help.
For Sam Raimi, comic book cinema is nothing new.

Initially, shooting for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was scheduled to start in May, but due to the coronavirus epidemic, they were postponed. This delay will affect the title’s release date. She is now planned on November 5, 2021.
