The next Sherlock Holmes game rejuvenates the famous detective.
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will be the latest installment in the Frogwares detective series, with a whole new direction.
Frogwares has been making video games since Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Mummy in 2002 starring Sir Arthur Conan Doyley’s fictional yet world-famous detective, and they’ve managed to catch up with the 2014 episode Crimes & Punishments – in that sense, by all means. that this was the first title in the series to be released on both PS4 and Xbox One. The franchise was last expanded in 2016 in the form of The Devil’s Daughter, but unfortunately our mouths didn’t bend to a full smile from the end result.
However, the development team will not give up. According to their announcement, a new part called Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is already being made, which in many ways breaks with the previous traditions of the series. Perhaps most striking is the fact that we will be able to direct a much younger edition of the detective, who will return home to his hometown at the beginning of his career, investigating his mother’s death. The story will not take place in London, but on a picturesque Mediterranean island that we will be free to explore during our exploration.
Fortunately, what hasn’t changed is that we still can’t carve an action hero out of Holmes, so while he’ll have a weapon, we can still deal with his opponents, mostly by taking advantage of the opportunities the environment provides. Our evolving deductive abilities will be used to discover the secrets of this quiet neighborhood and its seemingly harmless inhabitants through clues, rumors, evidence, and disguises. However, the title character here is not yet the thoughtful flame spirit we met earlier, his youth coupled with arrogance and naivety. Maybe the mysterious Jon (who isn’t Watson) who pops up in the trailer will be wise instead.
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is expected to be released in 2021 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG), PS4, Xbox One and next-generation platforms. Based on the announcement and the title, this will be the first chapter in a series of reinterpreting the iconic character.
