Riot Games, the Los Angeles-based developer and publisher known for groundbreaking video games like League of Legends and VALORANT, has announced the winning charities from the voting campaign held later in the year.
In December, Riot announced that it would donate $6 million to the charities players voted for from a selection of 83 options. The organization with the most votes from each country or region has received 50% of the donations destined for their country, while the other two organizations have received 25% of the total. Riot has guaranteed a minimum donation of $15,000 to each participating organization. By the end of the week-long voting, more than 775,000 players had selected the charity they wanted to support.
Jimmy Hahn, Senior Director of Social Impact at Riot Games, comments: “Thanks to our incredible players, we’ve been able to make a difference to 83 non-profit organizations around the globe. 2022 has been an amazing year for the Social Impact Fund and we We can’t wait to give gamers more opportunities to change the world from their communities and through gaming in 2023.”
