Interestingly, in both Europe and the United States, the same game leads the PS5 list – and it’s not one of Sony’s own creations.
We’ve been writing 2021 for two weeks now (meaning we should write if we don’t spoil it anyway), but year-round lists are expected to arrive as soon as companies manage to browse the statistics. Sony posted the 2020 results on the PlayStation Blog, exactly which games were the PS Store’s most popular on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

Apparently the end of the year went well, with games released in the fall only in the top 10. First place in both North America and Europe was Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PS5 and even overseas on PS4, while only one of us was able to take fifth place on the previous generation machine.
The PS5 top 3 is the same in both regions: second is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and third is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. After that, the order is slightly different:

What’s interesting about the PS4 list is that while Ghost of Tsushima overtook The Last of Us Part II in the U.S., it didn’t make it into the top 10 in Europe either. Aside from that, paper is the end result with the unwavering GTA V and Minecraft, as well as the popular sports games.

Sony has also published lists of PlayStation VR and free-to-play games, which you can find in the relevant post on the PlayStation Blog.
