Released on June 2, 2020 by Riot Games, Valorant quickly became a hit with gamers around the world. As a tactical first-person shooter (Tactical FPS) game, the work is inspired by renowned titles such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, but adds original strategic elements with the unique abilities of each character. , called Agents.
In this sense, the game currently has 15 characters separated into 4 main functions: Initiators, controllers, sentries and Duelists. Each group has certain responsibilities during matches; therefore, it is important to know its impact to choose the right type for each player. Check out some tips below for mastering the matches.
Valorant’s Initiating Agents are experts in challenging the defense of opponents, creating opportunities for allies to better position themselves in the attacked area. For this reason, it is recommended that they take the first actions during the rounds, using their abilities to put enemies at a disadvantage while waiting for support from allies, continuing the combat.
In this class, there is a certain predominance of tactical skills aimed at disarming actions, such as blinding enemies, ensuring area recognition or dealing a small damage in order to expel the opposing team from possible vantage points. Its main highlight is the possibility of executing these strategies without necessarily entering the firing line. There are currently three Initiating agents in Valorant: Sova, Skye, and Breach.

This is due to the format of the class’s abilities, such as Skye’s Blast Owl Drone or Skye’s Explosive Predator, which allow you to obtain information from the area defended by enemies remotely, with the extra possibility of causing tactical disadvantages such as stun or temporary blindness, in a similar way to stun grenades from CS:GO.
Defense specialists, Sentinel Agents are able to protect and monitor large areas of maps in order to ensure security for the completion of objectives. With few locomotion skills, it is recommended that they position themselves cautiously during combat, working from the rear to avoid enemy flanks. Currently, the class has three characters: Cypher, Sage and Killjoy.
The Sentinel class has unique abilities that can be the difference to a victory, promoting different styles of play. For example, Sage’s Resurrection can bring an ally back into combat, while Killjoy’s Confinement can stun enemies within a large area if they remain there. Cypher, in turn, is able to reveal the position of all opponents on the map with Neural Assault.

However, the Sentinels’ biggest advantage is also their biggest weakness. For Killjoy and Cypher, the protection and monitoring abilities, capable of granting great advantage during the rounds, are disabled if they die. Although it seems obvious, this change has been added recently and has had a big impact on the characters’ purchase economy, requiring even more strategy during matches.
For Sage, the wrong placement of a Barrier Orb can compromise an entire round for the friendly team. The same is true for the Resurrection of a teammate in a position compromised by the enemy, resulting in an unnecessary “second kill”. Therefore, Sentinels have great abilities that bring with them great responsibilities.
Dedicated to eliminating the opposing team’s vantage points, Controlling Agents open the way for safe entry into the enemy’s region in attacking rounds. On the other hand, in defense, they can discourage enemy advances with grenades, smoke bombs and powerful attacks. Its main advantage is precisely the ability to “cut” the map in safe zones for the development of allied strategies.
Abilities in this class generally consist of two main uses: blocking of vision and area damage. The first type appears in the form of smoke bombs that can be remotely “installed” on the map, while the second type works similarly to “incendiary grenades”, spreading across an area on the ground and causing loss of life points. for as long as any Agent steps on them, including allies.
Valorant currently has four Controlling Agents: Brimstone, Omen, Viper and Astra, newcomer.

Born fighters, Duelist Agents belong to the front lines of combat. Having the highest number of offensive skills, this class stands out for its fast and lethal mobility, in addition to having the highest number of characters: Jett, Raze, Reyna, Yoru and Phoenix.

Duelists are best enjoyed by bolder players, with quick reflexes and the ability to make quick decisions. This is precisely because of the advanced positioning in the combat zones, which leaves the Agents exposed to danger. Combined with good teamwork and support, it is possible to achieve effective combat strategies and, ultimately, victory.
