– In the latest video presentation about Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the game, provided additional information about Cloud from FINAL FANTASY VII, who was previously announced as a new fighter. During the presentation, it was also announced that two more new playable characters will be added to the game: Corrin from the new Nintendo 3DS game Fire Emblem Fates and Bayonetta from the critically acclaimed Bayonetta games. Recently, fans around the world were able to nominate characters they would like to see in the Super Smash Bros. series, and Bayonetta was the most popular choice in Europe.
In addition to extensive information on the new characters, Masahiro Sakurai also presented two new stages that will soon be released as downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Clouds level Midgar is based on a location that FINAL FANTASY VII fans will no doubt be familiar with. Bayonetta, on the other hand, will feel right at home in the Umbra Clock Tower level. New costumes for Mii fighters will also be added to the game, including a full outfit based on Geno from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
This is the last downloadable content to be released for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Including this new content, both versions of the game together contain 58 playable fighters and 84 levels. There are also 99 costumes and headgear in the Nintendo 3DS version and 97 in the Wii U version.
Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates will be released as downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The release is scheduled for February 2016. Following the Wii Fit trainer, Robin and the Villager, players can choose to play as the female or male version of this character. Dragon blood flows through Corrin’s veins, allowing him to shapeshift and unleash unique attacks. Players can download Corrin for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U for €4.99, or both versions of the game together for €5.99.
In last month’s Nintendo Direct presentation, it was announced that Cloud would be moving from FINAL FANTASY VII to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U is coming. This character has two costumes: one is based on his outfit in FINAL FANTASY VII, while the other is from FINAL FANTASY VII: Advent Children. Just like in FINAL FANTASY VII, Cloud in Super Smash Bros. use the Limit Breaker power. When Cloud takes or deals damage, or when he uses his Down Special Attack, his Limit Bar fills up. Once the bar is full, Cloud can unleash his powerful Limit Breaker. In Midgar, Cloud’s new level, players can grab the Invocation Materia, which allows them to summon creatures from the world of FINAL FANTASY, such as Ifrit and Bahamut ZERO. Only the player who summoned these creatures will be immune to the damage these giants deal. Cloud and Midgar are now available for download in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U for €5.99, or both versions of the game together for €6.99.
A new Chocobo hat for Mii fighters will be released as downloadable content at the same time as Cloud. There will also be a costume based on the popular character Geno from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, a classic RPG for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System co-developed with SQUARE ENIX. In addition, starting February 2016, players will also be able to download costumes for Mii fighters from Knuckles and Tails from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, as well as characters from other game series.
