Warner Bros. Games and NetEase announce Harry Potter: Magic Awakens for Europe.

Warner Bros. Games and NetEase, Inc. today announced that Harry Potter: The Magic Awakens to be released worldwide in 2022. This is a free-to-play trading card and MMO game centered around wizard duels while incorporating strategic role-playing into the gameplay. Starting today, players in Europe are invited to pre-register for the game via Google Play and the game’s official website. Players who have pre-registered will receive exclusive in-game rewards.

Published and developed in collaboration between Warner Bros. Games and NetEase Games, Harry Potter: Magic Awakens will be released worldwide later this year for iOS and Android. The title is part of Portkey Games, the gaming brand dedicated to creating video game and mobile experiences for the wizarding world that put the player at the center of their own adventure. Harry Potter: The Magic Awakens is a multiplayer game revolving around wizard duels. It also features role-playing elements with deep strategic gameplay and a unique graphic style.

Both companies collaborated on all aspects of development to ensure an authentic representation of the wizarding world from the early concept and art designs to the overall story and gameplay system. After the September 2021 release in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Harry Potter: The Magic Awakens could become the biggest mobile release of 2021, topping local app stores and all new ones, worldwide, according to analytics platforms like Sensor Tower outperformed published mobile titles in terms of revenue during the first four months. Pre-registrations and closed beta testing will also begin later this year for all regions outside of Asia.

In Harry Potter: Magic Awakens, players begin as young witches and wizards who have just received their letter of acceptance from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Fans can customize their own character and go through all the key steps of a magical education, including shopping for school supplies in Diagon Alley, donning the Sorting Hat to be sorted into a house, and competing in the Dueling Club.

Witches and wizards can immerse themselves in a compelling new story, featuring many familiar faces from the original Harry Potter series, as well as a large cast of new characters. As players progress through the game, they learn spells that can be cast in the form of cards.
