A week ago, thanks to the premiere of the Xbox Series X / S, a new generation of consoles was launched. Two days later, PlayStation 5 made its debut in selected countries. Newzoo analytical group has prepared an interesting report summarizing which games were the most popular among owners of these hardware platforms in the first few days of purchase.
The analysis covered the period up to and including November 14. Thus, the following data applies to the first five days of the Xbox Series X / S console availability and three for PS5. It is worth adding that the report describes what percentage of users played a given title at least once. Therefore, it gives you an idea of ​​what players have been buying, not necessarily what they have played the longest.

The most owners of the Xbox Series X / S, over 34%, played in Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold Warwhich is not a big surprise. The fact that last year’s installment of the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, was in the second position. The game does not have a dedicated version for next-genes, so people with new Microsoft platforms play with it via backward compatibility.

In the case of PS5, it was in the first place Astro’s Playroomwhich more than half of console owners have played. This also comes as no surprise. The game is included with every PlayStation 5 and was intended as a demonstration of the DualSense capabilities.
In the case of both consoles, it is noteworthy that players mainly buy games that are also available on older consoles, and multi-platform titles. Only in the list for PS5 there is the next-gen exclusive in the form of Demon’s Soulsbut only in sixth position. Godfall can also be mentioned for the stubborn one, but this project was also released on PC. There are no such titles at all on XSX / S.
The results are also worth mentioning Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. On the Xbox Series X / S, the game took third place with a result of 24.8%, while on PS5, only 6.5% of console owners played Ubisoft’s production. It is clear that Sony customers preferred to play in the open worlds of Spider-Man games: Miles Morales, Grand Theft Auto V and Ghost of Tsushima.
In the case of the Microsoft platform, it should also be emphasized that as many as half of the top ten games are available in the Xbox Game Pass subscription. Electronic Arts productions from the EA Play offer have recently been added to its offer. This is the main reason why Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order hit the top ten on the list.
