WWE 2K BATTLEGROUNDS. Fight without limits from September 18.
Arcade-style combat, competitive action and social play bring friends and family together to battle in the ring
2K today announced that WWE® 2K Battlegrounds, the arcade-style fighting game that will take WWE action to a new level of intensity, will be available worldwide on September 18, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, including the Xbox One X, Windows PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and Stadia.
With a roster of over 70 WWE Superstars and Legends available at launch, and with additional Superstars gradually available starting at launch, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is now available to pre-order in digital formats and at participating stores.
Developed by Saber Interactive, WWE 2K Battlegrounds offers fast-paced battles in an experience accessible to everyone, from passionate WWE fans to casual gamers, with multiple ways to play:
Exhibition matches: take part in exhibition matches inside or outside the home, anytime and anywhere, in local and online multiplayer, with up to four players;
Campaign – Join the adventures of seven new WWE hopefuls, created exclusively for WWE 2K Battlegrounds, in Campaign mode and compete for the chance to win a contract with WWE. Along the way, you’ll unlock new arenas, inspired by places like the Everglades, a military-style Bootcamp, Mexico, New York and Scotland, while receiving advice from legends like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Paul Heyman;
King of the Battleground: Take on everyone who comes to King of the Battleground, an online Last Man Standing in which four players start in the ring while four more wait by the ring ready to enter
Online – Test your endurance in online tournaments and exhibition matches.
Eight unique environments play a significant role in the action, many of them with interactive elements that add to the chaos along with a variety of outrageous melee weapons that players can use to strike down opponents. Fly from military helicopters, smash opponents with cars in a workshop and throw them into the jaws of a hungry crocodile in the swamp. WWE commentators Mauro Ranallo and Jerry “The King” Lawler will be in charge of narrating the chaos of the matches.
Players can also customize their own arenas to give each fight a personal touch and use the Superstar Creator to create their own WWE Superstars with different body types and sizes, facial features, clothing, hair, and fighting styles.
“We know that WWE fans and players enjoy a wide variety of experiences, and with WWE 2K Battlegrounds we are introducing a whole new dimension through the arcade style, which is completely different from our WWE 2K simulation franchise,” said Chris. Snyder, Vice President of Marketing for 2K. “We hope to see everyone enjoying the battlefield with friends and family.”
WWE 2K Battlegrounds is designed to be easy to learn and play, but difficult to master, with more advanced techniques to learn and skills to unlock so players of all skill levels can enjoy the action. A roster that includes the biggest Superstars of WWE today, such as Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Asuka, Daniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, combined with Legends, including Andre the Giant, Undertaker, Mankind, Shawn Michaels, Yokozuna, Sgt. Slaughter and many more, offers fan favorites for all generations of the WWE Universe to enjoy, with more unlockable Superstars to come via free updates in the future. Each Superstar uses one of five class styles, and each class style has its own combat moves, strengths, and weaknesses. Choose from Powerhouse, Technician, High-Flyer, Brawler, and All-Rounder to find the style that works best for you. Arcade-style power-ups such as Flaming Fist, Ice Breath, and Earthquake are accompanied by colorful visuals, offering excitement and an added dimension of strategy that can quickly change the direction of a fight.
