Xbox One: tricks to get the most out of the console.
Although Microsoft’s Xbox One has been in stores for more than a month, there are many people who still don’t know some tricks to get the most out of it. So, we present some tricks that, if you were unaware of them, can help you improve the experience of using and even playing the Xbox One.
Setting up your Xbox One:
Setting up the console is pretty easy. You only need to connect it to the Internet by cable or WiFi, and once connected, turn it on and start the configuration process that will appear automatically the first time you turn it on. This process should not take more than 30 minutes, although it will depend on your connection speed since the corresponding update will have to be downloaded. You need a Microsoft or Xbox Live account (your Xbox 360 accounts are valid). To save time, you can always create the account beforehand on a computer (it’s easier to type the data on a keyboard than from the controller).

Remember that the Xbox One can be turned on remotely from the controller or with voice commands, and to log in can be done through Kinect (configuring it in the options). Once this is configured, all you have to do is stand in front of the Kinect camera, and as soon as the console recognizes you, it will start your session. During the initial configuration you will be asked if you want to activate the “Instant-ON” option, which will allow the console to boot up in just a few seconds but leave the console in “Stand by” mode when it is turned off, consuming some power, or not enable it and let the console turn off completely. This will make the console take longer to boot up but will consume less power when off.
Xbox One Cheats:

- The console can log in with up to six different accounts at the same time. It allows switching between users with recognition via Kinect or with the controls. On the other hand, your profile will work on any Xbox One, so you could just go over to a friend’s house and sign in with your account with no problem.
- You can say “Xbox home” or “Xbox main menu” to return to the main menu, although you can also do this by pressing the Xbox logo button on the controller to do so.
- You can also use the Xbox button on the controller to turn the console on and off (by holding it down).
- The Xbox One controller and Kinect work together, and are able to recognize who is playing at any given time. Therefore, if you are playing a game with a friend and you pass the controller on to him, the console will automatically switch from your profile to your friend’s, as long as you have both logged in.
- In the upper left corner of the main menu, next to the profile portrait, you will find the notification center. From there you can easily access your console notifications, although if you receive a notification while you’re playing, you can also press the Xbox button on your controller to go directly to it.
- On the controller, the left and right triggers can be used to turn pages directly.
- QR codes can be used to download games directly. Just hold the QR code close to Kinect for it to detect.
- Games can be launched even before they have finished downloading. Of course, you have to install them on the hard drive to do so.
- The Xbox One is multitasking, which means you can download and play at the same time, for example, or pause the game to browse the internet for help. You can switch between apps from the remote or with voice commands.
- Say “Xbox switch” or “double click” the Xbox button on your controller to switch between screen segments.
- Skype uses the Kinect’s 1080p camera for video conferencing, and allows you to do so while you play games. In fact, you can now have video conferences with up to 4 people exclusively on Xbox One.
- Any content can be pinned to the main menu including movies.
- Xbox Music has a free trial time of 30 days.
- Xbox Fitness is a free service for Xbox Live Gold members until December 2014.
- Xbox One will keep your achievements earned on Xbox 360 (if you use the Xbox 360 account or associate them on Xbox Live).
- If you shout (be careful, you do not say) “Xbox record” or “Xbox record”, the console will automatically record the last 30 seconds of gameplay you have done. These videos can be used to share in the Xbox community, edit, add comments, and even upload to YouTube.
- Xbox One allows you to add up to 1000 friends, and now you can have unlimited followers on Xbox Live.
We hope these tricks help you improve the Xbox One gaming and user experience, if you are one of the lucky ones who received it as a gift this Christmas.
