When my headphones broke about five or six years ago, I threw them away and bought new ones. When I was a student I didn’t dream of quality sound, and I didn’t even bother repairing cheap Chinese consumer electronics, since they would have cost more than the price of new ones.

But today, when I have the opportunity to listen to more or less high-quality sound in my ears, I have asked myself: what if my headphones are broken? I’m not willing to throw them away, it’s not the right price.
To solve the repair of your favorite headphones, we have resorted to the rules of a well-known company with the letter P. It is a popular well-known manufacturer. Its headphones are sold in every electronics store and hit every category: expensive and cheap, wired and unwired. This is a great example.

Headphone warranty repair
Warranty Service Period. Manufacturers are willing to repair wireless headphones and speakers free of charge for one year after sale.
That being said, the company’s wired headphones are usually not taken care of at all. Some manufacturers make exceptions for specific models, so it’s best to check the warranty conditions on the official website.

How to find out the exact date of purchase. The date of sale is listed on the warranty card that accompanies the product.

Make sure that this document is correctly completed when you buy it. It must contain the name of the device and its serial number, which must be the same as the one written on the packaging.
What you need, apart from the warranty card. To avoid misunderstandings, we recommend that you keep it during the warranty period:
- the headphone or speaker box
- sales and cash register receipt
- instructions for use
- other documents that come with the headphones
where to go If your headphones break, you have to contact one of the authorized service centers, which are available even in the smallest cities of Russia.

A detailed list of such organizations is mandatory on the warranty card.

- through authorized service partners, the list of which is always available on the manufacturer’s website
- If no one has helped you, it’s time to google…
Unsecured cases. After purchasing the headphones, be sure to check the instructions for use. If you break them, you will have to pay to have them repaired.

Undoubtedly, it is about physical damage, extreme temperatures, interaction with moisture, etc.
Post-warranty and non-warranty repairs
Repairs in official service center – it is the best solution that suits most of the users who have broken earphones.
In this case, you can be sure that nothing will happen to your headphones. This is especially important if they cost more than a thousand rubles. And after replacing the failed components, you still enjoy great sound without any hiccups.
The plus side is that you won’t have to deal with tons of self-repair guides or search for the basement workshop. And you will definitely get the result you expect.

DIY or basement repairs. When it comes to DIY repairs, each of us imagines an excruciatingly long search for components on dubious Chinese websites and months of waiting.
This is what often happens. But some manufacturers – including Bowers & Wilkins, Philips – allow you to order specific replacement parts (cables, ear wires, sometimes a housing or bezel) to replace them, if technically possible. On average, they take between 2 and 3 weeks to arrive.
In my opinion, it is easier to go to a service.

But in this situation, you can’t be sure to correctly detect and fix the problem with your own hands or unofficial service. Therefore, all manipulations you do at your own risk.
Too bad, apple has a different policy
If your EarPods, AirPods or other apple headphones break, it’s easier to throw them away and buy new ones. Fortunately, in the case of the latter, you can at least buy each earbud separately for half the price of the set.
apple trivially does not supply original spare parts to Russia, at all. According to the latest decision of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the manufacturer has until May 1 to change the situation. But this is hard to believe.
The final result. Before buying a new set of headphones, I recommend that you read the warranty terms and conditions, as well as post-warranty and out-of-warranty repair options, just in case.
